I'm spriting for a TDS game with my friend
We're talking grim dark shadowrun influenced magical gun cyborg stuff here
This is my first attempt at serious sprites I have no actual idea what I'm doing here
please point out any flaws to me, I can take it. Cheers

Yeah, I don't know what you're going for with that background. It's like an old TV or something.
The boxes and the walls could use some more specific details to them. At first glance, I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be a platformer or a TDS until I looked at the sprites. As for the sprites, they're pretty good actually. I like the turret thing. Try adding some shading and stuff so they have more depth to them, it looks a little flat right now.
Pretty good start though. :)

It's okay I guess. A bit noisy though.

Yeah I guess I was going for a shiny metallic type floor. Seems I failed at that. Dunno how else I would do it though. Suggestions?
I'll prob have to add some shadows to most props so it's more clear that it's top down not view from the side.
I've only made two environments, tech lab and apartment as shown below

Missing some props here
that one as ****ty?

edit:
Also yes I've been playing around with gradients to create metallic surfaces and shiny stuff
I thought it looked great in the tech room but it's not quite as good when I just want plain stuff with pretty lightning

My screen has a very bad flicker effect when I scroll down the page and see the latest screenshot you posted. I definitely recommend you ditch the tiny horizontal stripes.

I'm really not too sure of what you're talking about Robert3DG+ but I'll make some new floors and post them here
varuks: Thank you for your constructive reply that helps me get better at this

I like these sprites a lot, actually. The network of lines on the walls and crates are really neat and very sci-fi-y. I think everything's a little too abstract, though. Just about everything has this surreal quality to it--the crates, the walls, the health... They look more like symbols for their objects rather than like I'm actually looking down on crates, walls, and health packs. The only things I can imagine I'm actually looking down on are the turrets and the computers. I do love how you handled the computers though, they look awesome. Especially how you sort of back them with gradients, it gives them a very metalic look. In fact, they way you handle almost all of the gradients in the sprites is good. The only exception I can see would be the big blue crates; there the gradient is a bit too bold and a bit too repetitive. But that's the only example.
Actually, I like the original floor you had, nearly. It was way too high-contrast, but other than that it would be pretty okay with a little tweaking and a few repeated details.

Nice work, overall; once you figure out the issues with the floors, which other members have already pointed out, I think it'll look pretty darn great! :)

The sprites are somewhat appealing, but the ground tile adds way too much noise and doesn't blend well. The other assets feel very flat when layered on top of it.
