I have loaded a gamemaker 6 editable file into Gamemaker 8.1 and when I tested it, it didn't perform the same as in the old version. Here is the problem:
When button right is pressed, then in each frame, the object should jump by +1 horizontally.
In the version 6, when I pressed and hold the button right, it moved immediately, however in 8.1 when I press and hold the button, it moves only by 1 pixel imediately, then waits for about 1 second, and then keeps on moving.
This bug happens only if I open a version 6 file in gamemaker 8.1. It doesnt happen, when I create a new game and create the same code in gamemaker 8.1.
Please help!
What can I do to fix this. Are there maybe any settings that I can change to fix this?

I would like to see your exact code, please.
Sounds very odd. Once I get your code, I'll try to have a test around, but otherwise, I can only suggest to try messing around with saving, maybe export game resources, then import them into a new GM project, and see if the bug still is there, etc.
Edit: Absolutely sure it's nothing to do with the sprite/collision mask?
