This past month we have been busy with the BAFTA Young Game Designers 2012 Award winners advising and turning thier game concept 'Rolling Scotch' into a working prototype game, now renamed as Stick Em Up.
For those unfamiliar with what BAFTA is, The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) supports, promotes and develops the art forms of the moving image; film, television and video games, identifying and rewarding excellence, inspiring practitioners and benefiting the public.
The Game
The main character in the game Scotch, is a roll of tape with a badass cowboy attitude. He's the Clint Eastwood of inanimate objects. Traveling across the wild West, he's being hunted down by the authorities for a wrongly accused crime. As well as sheriffs, Scotch needs to fight through the creatures of the west in order to reach his goal- his family in California.

fixed.
Yes, congratulations to these guys -- and to YYG for helping them turn this into a great game.
Just wondering... how is the "sticky tape" theme used in the game play? With a name like "Stick 'em up" and a character who's a roll of tape, I'd expect this to be part of the game play. But I didn't see this in the video.

It's incorporated through the swipe controls (if you notice, the graphic of the swipes is tape), as well as both the swinging over large gaps (you tape-lasso flying birds and swing across with them), and doing a spinning attack on banditos that results in them being wrapped up in tape.

From the name (rolling scotch), guess I automatically thought of something like katamari damacy. But I watched the video again and I see what you're saying. The game play looks good. And great graphics as usual. It's incorporated through the swipe controls (if you notice, the graphic of the swipes is tape), as well as both the swinging over large gaps (you tape-lasso flying birds and swing across with them), and doing a spinning attack on banditos that results in them being wrapped up in tape.
