Hello GMC. I’m starting to develop an idea for a superhero RPG. First off I think that superpowers are one of the most refreshing twists on traditional fantasy RPGs. And secondly I’ve always loved the variety in comic book universes, so now I have the possibility to make a game that is fantasy, sci-fi, a shooter etc. all at once. So I’ve always wanted to do something like this and am excited to finally start this project. Anyway, my base concept of this game is that you’re a young adult who is fresh out of college in New York and suddenly develop super powers. At this point you have a few basic powers, some basic weapons, and a choice. You can either take the route of the hero or the villain. But the hero VS villain dynamic isn’t black and white, there’s a “morals bar” (working title) that will get positive points every time a crime is stopped and have points subtracted whenever a crime is committed. So it’s very easy to be neutral. The game has very little true story but is more about your journey from a basic super powered being to an ultimately powerful hero or villain. Your actions are what influence the ultimate direction of the story (for instance your “archenemy” can be any one of the characters in the game depending on whom you fight most often and who most often survives your attacks.) Also if you choose the route of the hero you will be able to keep a secret identity including a job and having relationships with various people in your city (including the optional girlfriend.) Though one may choose to discard their secret identity and just adventure as their super form. So far the class system is versatile and I’m having quite a bit of fun creating various characters for this comic book world. So I’d love to get anyone’s input, suggestions, and advice to make this project as amazing as I can.
Thanks,

I like it, two things that must be included, sidekicks and secret lairs. Side kicks would be the equivalent of pets and lairs would be the equivalent of err.... nothing.

Any female characters? Same-sex sexual interests? Just to spice it up. Secret lairs could be anything from an underground night-club with criminals to the top level of a powerful corporate business. What creates your powers? And what powers are they? Can you choose subliminally? Will it be decided through your heritage and genetics/legacy, granted to you, cursed upon (strange bizarre side effect), or will you be bitten by a radio-active spider or injected by a terrorist/scientist willingly or against your will?

There are plenty of female characters; though the playable character is male (the gender is one of the only non-customizable features, mainly because I already have 64 sprites to customize your character and would love not to have 128.) You can certainly have same-sexual interests and there will be a variety of different secret layers to be chosen. The origin of your powers is up to your discretion, and may influence your qualities (mutation or radioactive spider might give higher intelligence while magic could give higher will or fortitude.) And the powers are selected through the standard RPG class selection, but with a twist or two. In my game you get to choose up to two classes and each class has three subclasses. One the classes are selected you view a list of powers, which are listed under subclass (so if you want to be a dark wizard you could pick the magic class and only pick powers from the dark subclass.) Once you are in the class list you have points that you can use to either buying new powers or upgrading existing ones. The system allows for a total of 45 class and 435 subclass combinations so is extremely versatile.

Hmmm, very interesting. If you have 64 different combinations, then 6464 would be 39,855 different combinations. Very customizational. This seems to be sort of like Star Wars: Knights of the Old republic.

There could be some kind of guilds (guardian/crime organizations) in the city you can join, whereby others then become your enemy (they might also not all be either good or evil).
And it would be awesome if you could become the good mayor or the evil ruler of the city in the end.
