Well, every time I open up a game maker .exe that WASNT made in GM8, It stops responding and then it says "Failed to load game data. File may be corrupted" And I dont know what to do! I really need to fix this because I need to use gmmodelfix and it does this. I have windows7 64bit(which may be the problem) and an acer aspire. My mom has an acer aspire, but its the one with the number pad. I dont know what model it is, but its not the small netbook its the larger laptop one. My moms laptop can run these fine but i cant use her laptop. And I have tried a virtual machine but I get some sort of other error running games on the virtual machine(the virtual machine that wont even load anymore anyhow).... I have bad luck with software. Help me! Ive tried reinstalling game maker, and clearing the registry, and i even tried reinstalling .Net framework AND setting the .NET framework BACK to like 3.0. ITS NOT WORKING. Help me please!

Windows 7 is not the problem, probably the game WAS made with GM8, or the game contains an error or something..
Or maybe something's wrong with your Game Maker version.

Yeah. THATS helpful

Did they previously run on Win7? Or did you have a different OS?

Have you tried running as Administrator?

Tried compatibility mode?

Do you still have the source files?

Have you tried to re-download and run the .exes?

I can only really guess, as I'm running similar specs but applications like GMModelFix works fine...

So...
- Try updating graphics drivers.
- Disable any AV installed (restart after disabling before trying apps).

I believe that you must check the functions you have used on the start of the room or on create functions. I don't thing I read anything about 3D but there is an error where if you start d3d on the room creation code it will make the game crash every time. Hope I helped a bit.

Make sure you have DirectX or OpenGL installed, or installed correctly. If the computer came with XP and then you upgraded, which I did once with an Acer Aspire One, it could be a number of things. It could also be a 32 vs 64 bit issue.
