As we know, GMS IS COMING. And with it iOS, Android, etc exporting.

Now we can't produce the WIP or Game topics in the PC section of the GMC as that's just for PC games.

Might I suggest GMC creates a section for WIP and Game topics for the new exporting? Along with tagging that identifies what devices the game works on?

I think we should but I think as a community we should discuss this. What are your thoughts? How would you split up the section?

Yes!

You should be able to select what platform you are using when you create a new topic. This could be used for the Novice questions forum or the WIP forum.

For iOS this would either require people to jailbreak their device to play the games or it would require the developer to post the editable file for their game, which they may not wish to do. (I know I wouldn't if I was developing a paid iPhone game...)

For Android it would be less of a problem I suppose.

I'd be happy myself to just post a PC version of the game in the PC forum and tell others it's for mobile, or publish to HTML5 and allow people to test it on their devices.

Actually, they could just post an executable of the game. The only catch is that the virtual buttons wouldn't work on the PC version, but the events for catching those keypresses would, so they could just say that what key does what, and make sure when designing that it makes sense for PC too. The exception would be games designed with multi-touch that aren't using virtual keys, but Im not sure how well GM is going to support this anyway just yet.

Personally, I'm working on a few different games. Each one easily transitions controls from one device to the next, all using the same code. (Meaning it's 100% complete for compiling for any device when I'm done making it. For now, that's only PC/HTML5/Android)

I think more devs should do this. (I'm actually using the HTML5 version as a demo version, with Android as the targeted platform. If things go well, I might try my luck with Steam with an already-made PC version)

For iOS this would either require people to jailbreak their device to play the games...

And? Jailbreaking is 100% legal and, these days, is simple with very little risk involved. The benefits--being able to download and use non-Apple-approved apps, i.e. from Cydia--are amazing (I don't know what I'd do without Veency and SBSettings, personally). So I can't really imagine why anyone would not jailbreak their iOS devices, other than that the word "jailbreak" falsely makes people think of nerds typing lines of code into a Command Prompt just to get it working. Which we, as actual nerds, know is not the case.

However, jail breaking may be legal, but it is against Apple's terms and I am sure YoYo Games wouldn't like it either.
