OMG I won!!!!!!! Does this mean I get gms full for free or does it expire? I wasn't real clear on what Ive won, other than to test a program that I can't even compile exe or any other format with.

If it doesn't function... why do you care whether it's free? Gotta love this. Just funny the way you said it.

You get to test the program until the end of the testing period. If you own GM : HTML5 you will be allowed to download GMS with HTML5 , Mac and Windows export options, whether this requires a seperation registration key or not is unclear at the moment.

It seems that everyone who had bought GM:HTML5 got a license for the Studio Beta.. I got one and one of my friends who also has GM:HTML5.

Slight addendum: Anyone whom purchased a license before the 27th of February. As far as I know, any purchases after that date won't be invited to participate in the beta.

That doesn't say that at all.

To all those who purchased GameMaker:HTML5 before 27th Feb, we have sent an invite to GameMaker: Studio Beta. Check your inbox

That doesn't say they won't be. It says they hadn't been. Big difference.

Maybe they'll offer it, maybe they won't.

Hence the As far as I know wording. I was merely postulating as to the future invites as I explicitly stated.

But you didn't know, prefacing stuff you make up with "As far as I know", doesn't make it any clearer. It only contributes to an existing problem here, specifically all kinds of misinformation. People read stuff, make no effort to verify then start repeating it. In know time at all it becomes fact to others. Unless it's corrected.

I might think that GM:Studio is gonna cost $2000. I'm not going to run around telling people, "As far as I know GM:Studio will cost $2000". The thing is; I don't know.

Own what you say.

Hi NakedPaulToast,

I think you are correct. How does anyone know for sure? Why would there be any secrecy regarding beta testing anyway?

I heard somewhere that Studio would cost $2000. I don't remember where, but it seems about right.

There's been no announcement or even a ballpark estimate on its price. It's been said though that each exporter "module" will be sold separately, and that GM:HTML5, which is essentially GM:Studio with Windows, Mac and HTML5 exporters, is $200. While I have no idea of its probable cost (and I work there!), I'd consider it very unlikely it was close to as much as $2000.

I laughed.

It also demonstrated the point I was trying to make.

I think most people are already assuming that, based on the price of GM:HTML5... and a little common sense. Like you said, GM:Studio basic is essentially GM:HTML5 (with improved runner and expansion options). And since HTML5 costs $99, it's reasonable to assume Studio (basic) will be in the $100 - $200 ballpark.
