[Introduction]
Hey. My name is Nathaniel Elwood. I've been a Game Maker user since 2001. I haven't released any games yet because Mark/YoYo Games always seems to come
out with cooler things as time passes. Definitely looking forward to GMS!! There are so many talented individuals in this community it's really
crazy. Think back.... no!.. Farther back.. ...There you go. Game Maker 5- Straight from the manual it says Game Maker wasn't designed to make 3D games.
Did that stop us? No way. And there was always posts about "How can I make PSP/IPOD/FLASH games??!?!?!112" We all laughed in their faces and told them to
stop being 12. Here we are waiting for Game Maker Studio to do these things. My point is; Nothing is impossible with such a great community.

[Music]
There are so many posts in the Sounds and Music they're all great! It's amazing that we have such a vast amount of artistic
ability offering their skills to help each other. Not just in Music, but Art and Programming too. You know why? We may all have different tastes in games
but we all share the same desire to create. We love to see others smile when they play/listen/see
our creations. It's a great feeling to have. Whether we're doing it for everyone, our brothers, sisters, parents,
significant other or a loved one that passed away. We all have a reason and none of them are stupid- Mine is for my family, my girlfriend and my Dad who
passed away recently- He was the one that introduced me to computers and video games and I'm so glad he did or else I wouldn't have met my girlfriend or
my best friends.

The main focus of video games is the game play and the story it tells. Then we have the art and music that brings the game play and story together. From
the beginning of time (You know, that time the first video game came out) video games have had music.. Something that didn't have a genre.. just.. video
game music. Or "Hey that sounds like Mario music" (Because it's 8bit). This music then became mainstream because it was nostalgia- It was our childhoods
wrapped in a blankie of bleeps and bloops. Back in the good old days video game companies didn't have a huge team of developers with vast abilities and
knowledge of doing everything needed to make a video game, in fact it was usually just the programmers and maybe an artist. Composing music was a task
for the programmer because the process of doing so wasn't as simple as throwing some notes together and exporting it as a format. It was all programmed,
note for note. Things later evolved in the SNES and GENESIS Era but the process was still similar in terms of programming rather then recording.
Interesting stuff. Music is very important to get the emotion across to the player whether you're playing a game or watching a movie.

[Sound Tracks]
The thing about sound tracks, they are all composed by the same group of people per project- It gives a feeling of consistency. When 10 different people
compose music for a single project things are different in quality, volume and style. Take Mario games for instance, all the music is clearly designed by
the same person, Koji Kondo. You can recognize Mario music if it was jokingly put into a Halo game. Wouldn't you like to have music that was designed
specifically for your game and know that you can keep that similar style going for future games to come? How can you rely on a different composer to
imitate someone else style? That's exactly what I'm talking about.

[My Offer to You]
And for the good stuff. I would love to create the sound track for your video game. I've been composing since I was 11 years old
with over 1,000 tracks made- Not all being great I admit, but a lot nonetheless. I've worked with several people on these forums already doing random requests.

I composed for Waspwort's Cube the Worm game. That was definitely a fun project, I had a lot of freedom to compose.
http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=164013 (Keep in mind, this post is from 2005) - Check out the full version!

I also created a few tracks for the cancelled Project-S ran by Chris Senn of Sega's 1996 cancelled game for the Sega Saturn "Sonic Xtreme"
Was a pleasure working with him and the team that ran the project, even though the project never saw the light I learned a lot about the world of Video Games.

Projects by me:
[Please keep in mind, as most of these tracks are works in progress the sound levels may vary from track to track.]

[Requesting Music]
Oh right on! You like my music? I'm glad, it's my dream to be a composer for your video game. To request music I do have a few rules
to keep things organized and working properly.

- Game must be playable or completed As I will spend my time making sure you have the highest of quality music,
I need to see the game for myself. I have every right to reject any game but do not take it to heart.<3
Please provide me a link to your game or send to my email: Nathaniel.Elwood@gmail.com for privacy.
- First come first serve Generally the rule I follow. I will do my best to follow this rule myself.
- Be polite I will do my best to get things to you as soon as possible. As I do have a job, I can't guarantee things will
be met within a deadline. Music is an art, let's keep it that way.
- Explain what you want

Number of tracks
Details about the tracks (Forest Area, Watery, Clouds, Maniac Zombie Infestation, Sad)
Length of the track
Loop-able?

Anything can change and I will update it as seen fit.

Hey, I have a request!
But first a demo of my game
http://www.mediafire...fzfsd28rr8ll382

I'm looking for about 4 songs ( less is fine but 4 would be awesome).
These songs will before the stages of course B in the demo. The theme is a "wacky space invasion". The songs need to be .mp3, about 1.5 minutes long (minimum), and loopable. Beyond that, you have complete creative freedom.

If the project seems interesting to you, would you consider doing the rest of the ost? (or at least the music for the Course A stages?)

Let me know if you need more info. Thanks!

I'm downloading your demo right now!
I will edit the post as soon as I play it :)

Edit: Great game! This is going to be a fun project for me :)
The menu's really stood out, if you don't mind I'd like to work on some menu music between working on levels.
I have some great ideas, I'll post up some quick demos sometime to see if you like them.

Sleazy Crow I put together a quick demo of the style I feel fits perfectly for the game play. It's a high-quality track, yet represents the classic roots of the genre. It has a fun and funky rhythm and I hope it fits well to your liking. Obviously, being a demo it's short and annoying-- but like I said, it's just a Sound Theory design. Let me know what you think and I'll work at it some more!

Aw man thanks. The song is awesome and really fits the feel of those stages.

Thanks for trying out the game. I kind of rushed with the menus and didn't think they really stood out. The main menu and title screens will be different. I'd love to see what songs you had in mind for them though.

Just a heads up, if you were interested in doing music for the course A stages, the theme for them is darker and more grim.

Thanks again!

*yawn* work work work..

DJDarkShadow - Square Shooter Revised I hope you like the weird style I came up with.
Even with a silly theme, there's still death and explosions ;)

Let me know what you think!

Awesome, it's even better!
I wish I could add more but I suck at critiquing music. I just know that it sounds good.

Hey I was wondering, about a few things.
Do you work solely for free?

I understand that you only do work on games that are actually playable and are going to be finished,
So if I were, to finish a game without music, would you do the music for me, for free?

I would credit you, splash screen and all.
I have the enthusiasm to make games, just music has never been my strong point.

Also, what genres do you do? Do you mainly prefer happy music and beats or would you do anything from horror cathedral to upbeat celtic, or electronic house?

Yes, I work for free. Although I would never reject a donation :D
I do many genres. I just listed a few of my favorite tracks which all happen to be happy.
I would love to work on your game, your genres interest me and I'll definitely look into them so I can be your composer.
What are you currently working on?

I'm kinda working on a few things.
I've had a story-based zombie game under wraps for about 2 years but barely worked on it, mostly came up with ideas and little engine.
Right now I am making an example topdown shooter where you play a little robot, but has no story and is all pewpew. Made in about 2 days:
Cyber Assertion WIP Demo.

Right this minute I'm making nothing professional. However I did start doing a lot of work about 3+ months ago on a RPG game scheme;
Spoiler

But of course an RPG is one of the longest and most arduous of projects to finish, and so far only had basic movement, UI and AI done.

After I decide to finish up this robot game, I might want to perhaps dig up my old zombie game, or think about making a platform game for a change, as I have never really made much of a game in platform view, but experimented and liked the style.

I'm looking to make something that can have hook-able gameplay, a story that makes you somewhat want to find out more without losing focus.
I've played games made with GM like Iji by Daniel "Ultimortal" Remar, and they are absolutely amazing.
Other titles, perhaps The Hive; comp entry. So platform appeals to me a bit.
I'm rather decent at graphic-art, so I do have some plans as to how I will construct my upcoming game/s.
One thing I sometimes have trouble with is motivation, but video game music, listening to it helps, especially if that music is intended for my game haha.
So once I get something really well down the track with a solid foundation, story setup and very playable I would very much like to get some music! :'D

When the time comes for requests, it'd probably be a collection of loops/loopable music tracks between 30seconds and 2 minutes long.
I generally like semi-realistic music, darker tones, less chirpy-mario style, more upbeat, action or ambient music I suppose.
:P
I'll come back soon and see how far I can develop a game to the point I need music.
PS:
If you like, you could have a go at making a small, miniboss theme for my CyberAssertion game, that'd be neat.
Link at the top of this post.
I'm really glad you are willing and capable, it's so hard finding someone to make music for your game!

Hello GHZteam, I have a project I'm working on at the moment that is in need of original music. It is named POWER, and it has a dark and detailed storyline based on revealing a conspiracy to destroy the stickman species (yes... it's a stickman game). I personally class the game as semi-horror (due to the dark storyline and some horror themes). If you're available and interested in taking up this project, please PM me - I will provide a copy of the game's current state and give you extra details.

Thank you for your time,
HomeBrand Gaming.
