Please welcome Nocturne aka Mark Alexander to the YoYo Games Team this week! Mark (previously a moderator on the GMC) has now joined us to 'head up' the documentation of all things GameMaker such as helpfiles, tutorials, demos and wiki.
Mark is a 39 year old computer geek from Scotland who's love affair with computers started a long time ago with the dear old zx81, Mark has had many jobs such as musician, croupier, photographer, bouncer... but programming has always been a passion throughout his life. Mark has been a strong advocate in using GameMaker now for a long time (even managing to actually make a game or two!) and an active and valuable member of the GMC for a couple of years. So much so that we didn't want to lose him entirely on the forum so we made him an Admin :)

Please give a him a warm, official, community welcome!

[...] to 'head up' the documentation of all things GameMaker such as helpfiles, tutorials, demos and wiki.

And I breathe a massive sigh of relief. I thought only last week that what would help people learning GM greatly is the update and improvement of the help files and associated materials - couldn't think of a better person for the job. :)

Excellent! Way to go, Nocturne! The help files could use a little more explanation in places, that's for sure! And Mark is the answer.

Good luck Nocturne! I've been waiting a while for YYG to get someone to do this kind of thing(working on some better help files), and you're an excellent man for the job! Posted Image

Mark (previously a moderator on the GMC) has now joined us to 'head up' the documentation of all things GameMaker such as helpfiles, tutorials, demos and wiki.

Mark's a good choice for this task. He's articulate and writes clearly. But more importantly, he brings a user's point-of-view to helping beginners.

His experience on the GMC should help him anticipate where new users might have difficulty with documentation, and where more explanation and/or examples would be useful.

Nocturne will be an excellent admin but the others are great at their job. They keep the GMC from being crap, so don't insult them. Posted Image

I don't believe that's what Tetiro meant.

I think he meant that it's about time that out of the people here worthy of being an admin, one would be chosen to be an admin. He wasn't saying that Nocturne was the only one.

Anyway. Congratulations, Mark! You certainly deserve it.

Maybe I'm simply overreacting or misunderstanding but I find that GMC staff and the people in positions of authority around GM in general (YYG, for example) get far too much whining from the community. That's why I assumed he was doing the same thing. Now that I look back on the post, maybe he wasn't.

That said, let's not spoil this thread! Great Job Mark! Posted Image

What you reeally want, is to get him making some games for YYG's. Trust me! ;D

Way to go Mark! Heck, way to go YYG's!

JonathanPzone is exactly right. There's nothing wrong with the staff we already had. I just meant it's great to see another member worthy of admin joining the ranks

(Plus you know, GM Studio allows us to make Android/iOS games. How could I insult the team behind that?)
