Hello, I'm making a platform adventure game inspired by Indiana Jones. It's about a treasure hunter called Bobby who is hired by a secret organization to locate an ancient artifact. The game's layout mainly consists of multiple screen-length rooms, like games such as An Untitled Story.

I'm trying to think of a name for this game, but I can't think of any. Any ideas?

EDIT: Discussion on the game should continue here: http://gmc.yoyogames...howtopic=532047

He's just called "Bobby"? Most adventurers use their full names, it has to be said: Lara Croft, Indiana Jones, Nathan Drake etc. If you are going to stick with the first name, I wouldn't necessarily call the adventure after him. Perhaps something like: Search for the ..., Pursuit of the..., ([Verb] of the [Noun]). :)

I'm not really wanting to put the name of the artifact in the title. The artifact you're looking for throughout the game is the first Holy Bible that was ever fully written. If I place 'Holy Bible' somewhere in the title, most people will assume it's a religious game, when it's not. I chose a religious artifact because I thought that it could make for a better storyline.

Thanks for the suggestions, I decided to use "Bobby Flunter the Treasure Hunter."

As in...

Lara Croft and the Biscuit's Gone Soft.

Nathan Drake and the Garden Rake.

Indiana Jones and the Faulty Phones.

...I could go on all day. Please stop me and say you're not being serious.

u guys can laugh now, but when 11clock is a millionaire video game programmer, we'll see who's laughing gyahahaha

anywho, maybe his target audience is younger kids? /shrug

but for the 18+ kids, you might need a better title, but the title really isn't all that important at this stage of the game design anyways

bobby flunter the treasure hunter
he's on the track to finding artifacts

a game w/ tons of rhymes in it? that might add a kinda fun element to the game

gl w/ the game ;)

Crap, I just noticed how incredibly stupid that title sounds. o.o I suck at titles.

My target audience is hardcore gamers, btw, who I usually aim for.

I liked the title a bit. But it might mostly work as a stand alone title that isn't made to be a very long game.

I can come up with a name for it, but before I do, I need to know 2 things:

1. Are you planning a sequel/prequel for this?
2. What are some of the Important things of the game? (Tomb Raider is about exploring Tombs, Dragon Age is about a place set during the Dragon Age, Metroid is about fighting the boss named Metroid, Zelda is named after saving princess Zelda, ect.)

You can be more subtle about it, if you want to hide this fact. I mean, how about referring to the condition of this artefact? Do the explorers necessarily know the importance of it?

How about: The Search for the Golden Tome; Pursuit of the Lost Relic.

I agree; Bobby (and Bob) isn't an appealing name. Treasure hunters are named cool latin stuff. I'd prefer to play a game where the protagonist is named...

Dante Alcatraz ? Nicknamed Al or Danny by his buddies.

Then you should steal the font from the Indiana Jones movies (aka at least make something similar, to evoke those IJ associations you really want for a game like this) and give the game a title like

Relic Hunter Alcatraz: The Quest Of Toma Prima
(Toma Prima being latin for "The First Book")

If I place 'Holy Bible' somewhere in the title, most people will assume it's a religious game, when it's not.

That's because of the word "holy". Calling it the "Holy Bible" implies you're a religious Christian. But just calling it the "Bible" is neutral. You can even refer to "Biblical artifacts", and "Biblical prophesy" without sounding religious.

Just use terms that historians or archaeologists might use.

I'm rating up both Adequate and Yal. I'm going to say this: Bobby sounds lame, Bob is hardly an improvment... It makes me think of this peice of junk by a crazy troll:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZf2E_wBvng

Anyway, back on topic. Of all the names, Bobby is the worst I can imagine for a main protagonist in an adventure. Plenty of other normal names would work so much better, like Arnold, Boots, Cooper, Derick, Edward, Ford, Gilliam, Harris, Ian, James, Kyle, Larry, Mark, Nathan, Odin, Paxton, Quinn, Ray, Seth, Thomas, Udo, Varen, Westley, Xavier, Yao or even Zaki.

The title doesn't need to be Person_name and the Thing_you_find. It could be something as simple as Derring-do (Meaning "Heroic daring").

What about me and chance? I mean, I even came up with some incredible rhymes... don't say you didn't appreciate "Lara Croft and the Biscuit's Gone Soft"? :P

@Saijee - although I agree slightly with your conclusion (Bobby is a rather unconventional name indeed for a hero), I don't agree with your alternatives. If you don't mind me suggesting (to you OP), I would go for the unattempted non-Western hero. Perhaps an African? Perhaps a female? Nathari Jakande? It makes the whole experience a bit more authentic and interesting. I would personally love to see a strong black female lead in at least ONE video game...

Bobby sounds better now.

1. Most likely not. I rarely am able to finish sequels.
2. The entire game focuses on a rivalry between two treasure hunters, the main protagonist and the main antagonist, a former worker for the secret organization that hires the main protagonist early in the game. You will also fight bosses regularly.

The name Bobby is scrapped. I'll try to come up with a 'cool Latin name.'

Toma Prima sounds like a decent title for the game, but Google Translator translates it as 'takes first.'

I think the general rule is that it's easier to make a character more likable if it's a girl. No cookie for figuring out why that is. I was just trying to make an alphabet of names. If I was giving serious recs I'd say:

Tisen Rhodes, Jak Hung ,Hector Mathews, Joven Perez, or Seiji Higuchi.

Actually think a Latino main character would be cool.

Dante Alcatraz ?

Posted Image Me gusta.

Nicknamed Al or Danny by his buddies.

I would definitely pick an English title. Such as... Dante Alcatraz and the.... Golden Crossbow / Ancient Dragon / Castle Wolfenstein / Power Crystal / Guns of Navarone

The Indiana Jones movies did it too. :P Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Temple of Doom. The Holy Grail.

Foreign names like Toma Prima or Angmangssassalik just don't have that extra sha-zam.

P.S. Just choose Indiana Jones as the name of your character. You'll get more views and plays for it just because it's Indiana Jones. ;)

I won't be using the overused format, "[main character] and the [item you're after]," and I won't be naming the character after names that are already being used. I want my work to be original, thank you.

Here is what the game looks like so far:
