Hi - I have an idea for a program that I want to make which includes having a strong man in a fairground activity (i.e. strength tester which assesses how hard one can hit with a hammer!)

I would be grateful for any ideas as to how I can make the graphics. In particular I need:
(1) a strong man (which will need a hitting action animation).
(2) the device that is hit (i.e. an object moves upwards to hit the bell).
(3) the background fairground graphics. (I was thinking of having some moving objects such as a Ferris Wheel.)

Thank you for any suggestions/ideas!

You mean something like this?

Also known as a High-Striker or Strong Man. I just whipped that up, which is why the Hercules sign sucks.

All you would need to do is create an animation of it going up to (for this example I'm using the above) Just Wimp, 100, More Protein, 200, Average Joe, 300, Strong Man, 400, Red Zone, Hercules. You could have a meter that goes back and forth and depending on what zone it lands on after you click or press a button it will go to said height. Depending on the height you win certain prizes and collect points and if you hit the Hercules you have an animation of the bell ringing back and forth.

You could create 4-5 different animations (or we would) of a guy leaning back and hitting at different heights and then implement them into the game. Once s/he hit the red circle a red meter rises up to the levels and depending on the level it produces a different sound.

For background images you could have a ferris wheel, roller coaster, circus tents, etc. For more machines I suggest looking up Carnival Machines on Google. I've already found some good links. Cotton Candy machines and popcorn machines could also be placed as background scenery.

And as you can see that strong man I created sucks because there are little white spots at the bottom and the Hercules sign is terrible.

Hope this helped. ( I had a similar idea a while ago but never really went with it )

Hi Jster391 - thank you for taking the time to post. That's a nice High-Striker!

I think the real dilemma is drawing the strong man.

Hmmm, yes, therein lies the issue. The only possible way of doing it would be to use a tablet and draw a character frame after frame smashing a hammer down. If you had a talented artist then that wouldn't take long because there are animation programs for tablets. In fact, I might try that and then tell you how it went later, after my lacrosse tryouts tomorrow.

Second thoughts: You could have, say 8 frames of a man smashing a hammer as a rough outline, and then smoothen it more. Or just have an animation of a hammer (with nobody holding it) smashing down. Either way would work.

EDIT: Here's a quick sketch of what the basic would be like.

EDIT2: Sorry it's big and crappy gif resolution.

As a matter of fact I just might. I'm a little caught up in my saxophone and lacrosse and school but I'll work on smoothening it.
