(A game made in 72 hours for the GMC Game Jam #5, the theme being "Facade")

You Monster is a game about pretending to be suave during the day and being a monster at night.
We highly recommend you read the tutorial before playing, because it requires some instruction.
You can find the tutorial in-game. Enjoy!

We might expand the game in the future if people enjoy it and we feel like it! Let us know what you think.

I really enjoyed the concept of this game, it made for interesting game play. Definitely one of the better submissions, in my opinion.

Thanks for the response! My only real goal for this game was to place better than my previous jam entry, and I've already achieved that in votes, so I am highly satisfied :D

Really cool idea, just so... weird. Why do the blue dots give me exp? Why cant I eat people who aren't following me? Why don't people run away? Why does failing a charm make me walk slow? Why is "That's a nice shirt" threatening? I guess most of them are simply gameplay features, not as such supposed to make sense, but it seemed just so random :P.

Perhaps, at night time most of the people go indoors, but you can eat the ones who stay out, though the sound of you eating people attracts police. Who shoot you, instead of the apparent deadly laser vision they have. You could include perks, for quieter eating, more health, less scary when transformed so people don't run so readily... I really would liek to see this expanded on.

Is nice.

The honest answer to those complaints: No time :P

We had less time than we originally estimated (I had work and we both had school), and a couple important things (eg. sensible tutorials) slipped under the radar during development. We'll hopefully be able to work on this more and make it a lot more fun!

I'm pretty sure that's why it's in Works in Progress ^.^

Don't take it as "complaining", I just want to see what you can make this in to, and giving my own suggestions for making it fun and hopefully coherent :D

We'll hopefully be able to work on this more and make it a lot more fun!

Which I'm sure you want as well :)

Agreed 100%! I'm presently addressing some of the issues people had. I'll upload a new version (with perhaps some additional features as well as improvements) after the Jam ends!

I played it once, then had to go back to the menu. And then I started a new game, so I have to wait for the beginning text to disappear "You are an monster insatiable appetite, etc", I pressed a bunch of keys to see if it would skip, but instead, when it was going to change rooms, it gave this error:

___________________________________________
EXECUTION ERROR in creation code for instance 101029 in room rm_game
Error in code at line 1:
path=pt_average1
^
at position 6: Unknown variable pt_average1

Strange, thought I'd fixed that. Guess not! I'll hop on that.
