Music Packs Project

Hi! I'm icymx, as I'm sure a lot of you know, and I'm running a project across 2012, where I create a pack of music containing songs that you can use free of charge in your games, every month for a year. By the end of the year, I hope to have made 8 packs of 10 songs each - a total of 80 songs. Of course, since I am running behind schedule the project will most likely run into 2013.

Why am I doing this?

The GMC has been an amazing community to be part of, and it's great to be able to return some of that kindness and give back to the community. On top of that, I am doing this to:

a) Allow people to include music with their game without having to spend lots of money on hiring a professional composer
Get better at composition
c) Give people something to listen to when they ask for a sample of my work

As the year progresses, you will see more and more of the items in this list become links, with direct downloads of zip files containing the packs.

Each month I will complete a pack, however it is likely that I will fall behind schedule again

You may use any of the music in any of these packs for freeware or commercial games, however credit is required (give credit to icymx).

A good idea!
May I suggest making a blog where you release the packs/songs, so you can get a organized "timeline" of your projects and document your progress etc, just a suggestion.

They sound pretty good, but are a bit bland...

Thanks for your comment. I made them that way as this style seems to suit video games in my opinion. If I was to compose for listening enjoyment I would try to make them more "exciting" if you know what I mean.

I appreciate that you took the time to make a comment and I will try to make the next pack more exciting if that is what you want

Just listening to it.. good pack for games. Maybe too much snares in a few melodies, but overall these are really good game scores.

Haha I agree... I'm still learning to make my own instruments - and that includes drums - so I don't have a lot to work with instrument-wise
