Fake Date
(don't read inside the spoiler unless you want most of the story spoiled!...kinda.)

This will be mostly in a visual novel style with some minigames tossed in when needed. I already have the framework for the driving and the karaoke maze shooter minigame. So far I do not have any of the dialogue actually written. The story needs some kinks worked out and I need to design the looks of the fat and ugly CEO (who I plan on sort-of resembling the forever alone face), the trustworthy businessman, the sinister second-in-command, and the hired mob goons. Here's some pictures of my progress so far:

New progress as of Saturday 3:29pm pst:
-Walking and facial expressions done for Jennifer
-Walking and collisions done
new pic:
(I love my drawing tablet...)
Posted Image

After a bunch of work and non-work, it is officially playable to the end! It should be pretty easy but still take quite a few minutes due to dialogue.

Seeds and Weapons

The basic idea is you go around killing weird headless monsters. You get weapons by planting seeds and letting them grow.

Done! 23:19 GMT!

My game can be found here.
Or here at Yoyogames.

It's name is "SpyBot"

The goal of the game is to climb the 1000m high CONTRA-tower, owned by your rival company to find out what they're doing.
Game features progressively harder enemies the higher you climb, more than two DOZENS of power-ups and a boss in the end.

Okay, I'm finished. The graphics are all over the place and I would have liked to add a few more enemies but this is all I have time for. :(

I went for a platform game this time as my last game aimed a little too big, not to mention a load of work in the spriting department.
The games not meant to make much sense either, just random elements thrown in and it's working pretty well!
Story Introduction
One day a terrible evil drew down on the town of Boxville, but the unexpected happened.
As the evil was about to claim victory, one Boxmus stood up against all odds and vanquished the evil once and for all.
The hero forged that day is known as Boximus.

However, the only witness to Boximus' victory is Boximus himself. But really, Boximus never saved the day at all. He was merely minding his own business that day until the evil was slain by a mysterious hero. The true hero vanished along with the evil and thus Boximus became the new hero.

Now the evil has returned and the people of Boxville have called upon Boximus to save them. Under Boximus' hero facade, can he save the land 'once more'?

Posted Image

Direction Download (Zip): http://dl.dropbox.co...032/Boximus.zip
Sandbox: http://sandbox.yoyog.../193558-boximus

Edit: Fixed a bug where nothing happens after defeating the boss, both direct download and sandbox versions have the fix now.

Have other important stuff to do so don't know if ill be able to finish but so far I've resprited my platform engine. :D

Story: You wife wants new shoes.
You love your wife so you take your hard earned gold ingot to the shoe store to get her shoes.
People like gold ingots so you have to throw a gold ingot in their face and kill them before they steal your gold ingot.
A gold ingot is not enough for shoes so you need to collect 5 gold coins too.
Get the shoes to your wife before she goes apesh*t.
BTW you love your wife

.exe 4.27MB

WARNING: Quite difficult use F5 & F6 to save/load if you are have troubles beating the game. The ending is the best part :D!!!

  • Engine for the game was mostly premade (you can download the engine in my signature for a comparison)
  • Theives will steal your gold ingot and run into their home. If they do this its GAME OVER!
  • You can steal your gold ingot back from thieves but be quick!
  • Do to me rushing the game, thieves have random movement stats (some are faster, some jump higher, some have more grip, some are craftier, some will intercept you mid jump)
  • Press <P> to pause the game. <R> to restart the game.
  • Most instructions are in game
  • You have double jump, dash, wall jump at your disposal. You should use them
  • You can grab onto ledges by holding <X> when you have nothing in your hand
  • Press down in the air for a mid-air dive
  • The keys <A>&<S> function the same as <Z>&<X> respectively

PolyWorld is a game that was created by me for this Jam (obviously) and was made for fun and I enjoyed every minute of it! The aim of the game...well that is a surprise  . Well i will give a few things away...YES THE GAME IS MADE UP OF MOSTLY POLYGONS (squares to be precise) as you would guess. The game does in fact follow the theme of this Jam "Facade" and to completely understand how it does you must first complete the story.

- Amazing story-line that enthralls the player
- Eye catching HD graphics
- Expert level modelling

- Click name at top to download (MediaFire)
- MediaFire
- Host-a

As not to give much away I will post a screenshot of the menu only :ninja:

Wanted - Dog not Alive(Clicky.)
is an action filled adventure where the player must destroy dogs by clicking on them. But beware! The dogs have attempted to hide from the forces of good. Uncover what's behind this facade and find the truth. And the highscore! Instructions in game.

Dedicated GMC Topic on this game

Corrupted by a facade of health, wealth and society, you are out to assassinate the figments of your imagination!
You are a victim of...

Posted Image

In Hallucinogun, you play as a man whose seeming style, class and intelligence unfortunately masks insane innards. Everything's an enemy to you, even the powerups! So you take your grandfather's shotgun and go and shoot at things!

The game is a weird first-person shooter, arena-based. It has a development time of around eight hours in total. Avoid contact with the heart beams and the beautiful balls - they will hurt you! And for the love of life, don't touch the health, ammo and money pickups either! More hurt!

WASD: Move
Left Click: Shoot
Right Click: Reload (only works when clip is empty - see around the reticle)

Made In: GameMaker Studio 1.0 Alpha (nb: there was no benefit to this over 8.1/HTML5 for this game, I just use Studio out of habit)
Download Size: 6.27MB
Version: 1.0 (January 29th 2012)

I'd like to enter this game. I made this yesterday in about six hours. It is a difficult exploration-and-dialogue-driven platform game with some trippy elements inspired by the "facade" theme (and also by some older GM games like "An Untitled Story" and some of the fantastic work put out by cactus). Completion *is* possible and will result in one of two possible endings. As usual, press F1 for game information. If you are hopelessly stuck, PM me, and I can give you a clue.

I must say I love the entries this theme has produced so far. Good luck, everyone.

Falling For Milk
This is a no-jump precision platformer.

This guy wants milk for his cereal, really badly. Unfortunately, the door to his apartment is jammed and won't open, so what does he do? He jumps out the window! Who cares if his room is at the very top of the apartment building?

Use the arrow keys to move left and right, use the window sills to stop your fall. If you make too far of a drop, you'll die. Watch the fall meter above your head, that will tell you when you fall too far.

How does this game fit the theme, FACADE? From dictionary.com:

fa·cade   [fuh-sahd, fa-]
Architecture .
the front of a building, especially an imposing or decorative one.
any side of a building facing a public way or space and finished accordingly.
a superficial appearance or illusion of something: They managed somehow to maintain a facade of wealth.

The whole game takes place on the side of a building, so the game should fit the theme.

My entry for the first GMC JAM 2011 with the theme FACADE is...

Mario Norris Kart
- Final Columbus II -

Posted Image

Get the game from <HERE> or Play it at Yoyogames Sandbox or see its topic at: http://gmc.yoyogames...howtopic=530481

A racing game featuring characters from Final Columbus in go-karts! Eight characters, eight racetracks, two cups, each one with three difficulty settings! You can also race Quickraces and Time Trial! And what's extra awesome is that in Time Trial mode, the best time will save a ghost you can race against, just like in the real go-kart games you buy for consoles!

And remember, this is not a 3D game... it's just a FACADE!

Sure this is a game you'd like to vote on? :)

Uses a modified version of TheSnidr's MODE-7 ENGINE.

The saturday morning when I turned on my computer, I had a path-based AI from 2009, a game of mine to snatch graphics from, and a modified version of TheSnidr's Mode-7 engine Super Mario Kart example room...

Three days later... I have a functional Super Mario Kart clone, and I've actually learned how to use surfaces! I have to say, I'm pretty proud of myself and extremely glad there was no errands to do this week-end.

The AI is extremely broken, there are a bunch of graphical glitches, and I haven't managed to use the theme properly enough in my opinion... but now I'm so exhausted I don't care about that. Enjoy my game, and I hope some of you got so surprised for this out-of-nowhere game you fell of your chairs.
