EDIT: Does that mean if you say eg. "I just got one of those 3DSs today!" on Facebook the whole site will go down?
Also how is anyone going to learn anything in GM? The reason I made Super Awesome Pong was because nothing else was porting properly and Pong is almost fool proof that it is hard for something to go wrong.

Also, I think there are many sites more powerful than congress. More than a third of the planet is on Facebook, and google is used by most of the planet on a day-to-day basis.

youtube search mike mozart Sopa. Also I found a good video on thunderfoot's channel explaining the origins of the efforts to make illigale our natural need to share by the movie/music industry... an industry that actually provides very much less to the us economy they would lead us to believe... imo, from want i can read between the lines, that industry could dissapear without making a blip on the economy. as pointed out in the thunderfoot vid, way too much power and effort put in the wrong place

It can't be more obvious american government is doing this to prevent information from
spreading online about their immoral deeds (not entirely usa government, but nonetheless than 80%).
Just look at wikileaks! They see internet as a major threat, general public's best weapon
in fighting against unlawful **** they've been doing. By doing this they will be able to prevent
information from spreading. It was even expected, top supporters for SOPA are mastercard, visa and
bank of america. Those 3 companies are responsible for unlawful wikileaks banking blockade! I'm not
saying the act has been formed just to close wikileaks and similar sites, but this can't be overlooked!

- Increasingly the western world relies on IP to make a living. Since we produce less "real world" goods and more "digital world" goods we open ourselves to piracy. If we are to move to an information based economy there needs to be a limit to the infringement of IP.
SOPA will be back every single year until the problem is sorted; and the internet companies need to be more concilliatory and less reactionary in order to serve the best interests of their users...

No it hasn't begun.
it has begun: http://uk.news.yahoo...-195854378.html
This has nothing to do with SOPA/PIPA. The Megaupload shutdown has nothing to do with it. Existing laws are being used to shutdown and prosecute the sites owners.
As much as I detest SOPA/PIPA, I recognise that electronic copyright violations is a problem. Protesting SOPA/PIPA is one thing, but the protest should not also be based on shielding the sites that facilitate the mass copyright violations that are occurring. As much as Megaupload had legitimate uses, it's business model was dependant on piracy.
Some sites should be shutdown. Megaupload will have due process.
