Hi - has anyone devised a way of where the user has to enter a licensing key before a program runs (with say full functionality)?

For example, with some programs I have seen there is an (annoying) splash screen that does not disappear until the user gets a licensing key! After the key is input the program runs properly without the splash screen popping up every five minutes!
