I recently cooked up some stuff on Inkscape, they're really noobish but I think they'd fit for an Eastern-styled game (yes, I am currently working on another game but breaks are allowed). They definitely can't be used in an RTS (tried that, didn't end well).
Apprently the forum doesn't allow the PNG extension to be shown so I can't link to them... *eye twitch*.

Well what do you guys think could be made with Japanese style art? Not anime but traditional paintings.

Not much to go on... but how about an arena game, like where there is one enemy that you have to defeat in melee combat, lots of complex combat mechanics, big store, etc...

Well, really I'm not about to tell you guys what genre I want, only the drawing style because it came to my mind.
I want to give you guys creative freedom.
And, an arena game would be kinda cool

Can you find some other, bigger images of the art style you're aiming for?

And I suspect that you'll be able to go in an infinite number of directions. Looking at the flag, I'm imagining a turn based strategy game set it feudal Japan.

I've tried a RTS TBS (sorry about that mistake) , but it didn't exactly work out well because animating characters in this style is hard (adding that to the fact I'm not a good artist). And If I made them in another style, it'd kill the mood that the game's going for in the first place....
Unfortunately, I don't have any other examples . But I'll see what I can do.
