ManaCraft

Logo Pending

ManaCraft is a currently Indev Sandbox game devoloped by me, (Braden Mitchell) and my group, Extro Games. This game was inspired by Minecraft, Terraria, and all the Minecraft 2d games out there. If you want to view my first post on this game, go to this link, Manacraft Idea. It explains the current game concept. On this post, I will post Demos and new additions to the game as we develop it. Feedback and ideas are all supported!

-Version 0.0.5 Alpha-
Shablam! An update tailored for a few cosmetic needs.
  • Changed graphics (mostly)
  • Added borders to player sprite.
  • A few GUI updates. (Didnt touch buttons; will soon)

Link time!; 0.5.
EDIT: Agh! Caught something, forgot to include the Logo file. Will do in the next update!
EDIT: ARG AGAIN! Forgot screenies and will post when I have the chance...

ExtroGames IS NOT affiliated with any of the games it was inspired by. That includes any company that devoloped any Minecraft 2d.

Haha, it's pretty cool - I like the pixelated graphics, a game similar to this was created today as well, by TrickPixel Games ( http://gmc.yoyogames...howtopic=528253 )
When you click with left mouse button, it should delete the block right away, instead of you having to wait a few seconds, it's a pain to delete a lot of blocks with so much clicking when you could just wave your mouse over em' while holding down the button.
All in all, it's a cool game. I'll play it when it's updated!
- Have a heck of a day!

Thanks so much dude! I always wanted to hear somebody say something that kind to me! Your gonna like the next update. Its full of more inner depth. And, about the instant clicking, like I said, this game is based on minecraft, in the game, i takes a while to destroy a block because you have to gather it. Dont worry, but at least the final version, you will be able to create a spell that instantly breaks blocks. Thanks again!

requires no default gm effects...
requires a good platform engine
and requires bug fixes, such as click, hold, drag mouse from block, and release still breaks it. you can clear out blocks unnaturally fast using this "glitch".

good luck.

Thank you for the feedback. On topic of the glitch, im not getting that glitch. I tried to do it but it never worked... Im also fully aware my platform system stinks. Though, whats wrong with the gm effects?
EDIT: Found the glitch. Thanks, I hope I can fix it in the next update.

I know I didnt fix up the platform system. Ill get to it... Anyways, here is the link, 0.0.2

I'll be trying it in seconds and editing this post if it's still the last ;)Meanwhile I'd like to point out that the link is actually broken, a colon is missing ;)

Edit: tried it right now :)
Well, it's still very basic, and you probably don't want to use the same sprite of the player as a collision mask, unless you want people to start chin-climbing houses ;)

I think I'll wait, the engine is still in its early stage, and you haven't added any original gameplay element to encourage staying in game yet.
There are plenty of Minecraft clones, and people still wants to play the original one; building the engine is a nice exercise, but the game must to be entertaining to the player as well! ;)

Keep up with the good work! :)

I put this in your Game Ideas topic, but it's worth repeating here:
You know, there's already an OLD and FAMOUS GameMaker game by someone FAMOUS called MageCraft:
http://db.tigsource....ames/mage-craft

I suggest you change the title.

Hmmm...

This looks similar to a 2D MC remake. The one thing that may just make the difference: Mod support.

Mod loading was the 2nd thing I programmed beside the general platforming.

Hmm... mod support... its not that far out of my reach... we will see how I go about doing this.

Oops, well, its the first thing that comes out after a Google search of "MageCraft". I've played it way back then, 2005-6ish. Many GMers here are familiar with Darthlupi and his creations.

I say no gm effects because gm effects are not only ugly, but everyone knows them when they see them, and that alone draws people away and shows that you put little effort into the games visuals. anyone can use gm's effects, but only someone who cares about their game uses real graphics, particles, or anything but gm effects.
