Creative Game Challenge 2010-2011

City of the Duce is an actually working fantasy 3D RPG, completely made in Game Maker, without using any external 3D graphics DLL's.

Walk through beautifully handcrafted 3D enviroments, fight monsters, jump through area's, train your skills, play minigames, and defeat Ziragh!

Final notes
Making this game was a very good experience, I learned a lot. The final product might not be very good, but at least it is one of the few finished games in its genre.
Have fun!

Made with Mplay? Or 39dll? If 39dll, you did use a dll. Or, I read the post wrong. :P

It isn't online, so obviously I didn't use 39dll/mplay etc.

I did use some DLL's, for example FMOD and CleanMem.

Great game, very fun - I just tested, I'll try finishing it later, hopefully it takes a long time. ;)
Love the 3D graphics, the characters and their faces look awesome - You did a great job!
The movement is good and no errors/bugs found.
Great job and have a heck of a day!

Wow, I've tried alot of game maker games over the years and I can say that this is one of the best I've ever tried.

It's very commercial, and the lack of glitches is amazing. I really like the story and all the different systems. How long did it take you to make this?

The models are excellent. The controls are intuitive and make the game fun.

Well done on this!

Thanks for your reply :)

Making the game took more than a year, but I didn't work on it 'full-time'. I guess I worked full-time on it for about 9 or 10 months.

Game is EPIC! Quests are on some way interesting, desert looks unreal (flat surface made out of sand). Anyway, I didn`t played whole game and I`m on it.

I agree with BrunoHP, the desert doesn't look great, would loved to have seen some dunes.

However, that is only a minor niggle compared to the rest of the game. Took nearly 2 hours to complete, probably the longest I've ever spent in a Gamemaker game and I enjoyed playing it. I would have loved to have more to do, obviously you spent a lot of time on what is already there, but afterwards I still wanted more. I spent a little while getting a lot of coins from the spider area, but in the end, I only needed to get 30 or so, rather than 100 that I got.

Well done on creating such a good polished game!

Its seldom I come across a 3d RPG Game Maker game that isn't infested with bugs and is actually fun to play. Good Job. I just wish the character models were different.

Sorry for the late reply - I've been really busy lately.

The game is not as big as I wanted it to be, there's hardly any stuff to do besides the storyline, which is also really short (for me it is, I'm not sure how you managed to spend 2 hours on that, fullmedia, I can do it in 10 minutes :P). I just wanted to finish it, I was sick of the project.

I'm planning on making some other epic 3D game sooner or later. I don't have any specific plans yet, but I will definitely make something soon.

Also, now we're at it, feel free to rate the game here, by the way :P

Blue

EDIT: Or if you're interested in the source code

Although graphics and animation need some improvements, it is a GREAT work!

But why lightining magic doesn't have sound? (I have just started playing the game, so I don't know about any other kinds of magic yet) I also find aiming difficult without an aiming cursor

Even though, this is a great work
