Hello,

This is a suggestion:

Using GM on advanced mode, I barely use DnD actions anymore, other than the "Execute code".

I was thinking it would be a huge time saver if when on advanced mode, the object window should look like this mockup:

I'm not saying this option should be mandatory... rather it would be a nice optional feature for many people. This even looks more professional IMHO.

What do you think?

i would love to have this being someone who only uses script but as they said in some forum gm is meant to be more non-programmer friendly so i don't think they would add this any time soon.

I like this option. It's been requested dozens of times.

I'm guessing that something like this is a good candidate for GM 9.

No, I like organizing my code into different sections of DnD "Execute Codes", split by DnD Comment commands. This helps me quickly jump to whatever area of code I need to change at rapid succession.

Yes I can see why people would want this, maybe instead they could just include a shortcut to "Execute Code"? Putting it on the first page of the advanced mode DnD options perhaps?

Edit:
Also, iSeiren, you don't need to type "+1" there is a little button on the bottom right of every post where you can show your support for post without having to clog up a thread with posts filled with no useful text.

Edit:
See how nice this is? I can jump to whatever code I want at nothing more than a few clicks.

I vaguely remember one of the guys (Mike or Russel) mention this as a possibility for GM9... Along with other things that can be toggled on/off under an "Advanced" tab in the user options. I may be wrong, however and that it may just be wishful thinking on my part as I too would like to see this implemented!

Something you might like to see... Put this at the very top of one of those codes in the image..

About that image, ever since I think GM8.1, you can place a comment on the first line of the code but with three slashes '///Comment' and that comment will be displayed on the d&d panel instead of "Execute a piece of code", so you could avoid putting those comments there.

EDIT** Ninja'd by Time4Dan... :ninja:

You can probably get rid of the comments as well.

Guys... guys... calm down. I use GM8, not 8.1, I cannot do your wizardry. Either way, my point stands.

Wannabe mod. Clicking the '+1' button is never noticed. I prefer to show my support by leaving a reply. Your post wasn't much better than mine.

I have absolutely no intention of modding the GMC, there are far too many idiots here to make it beneficial in any way, I leave modding the GMC to the brave and foolhardy. ;)

Also, you're right, pressing the +1 button isn't anywhere near as attractive as spamming a thread with "yes I agree with you." Also, my post gave a point about how this would effect organization and suggested a different course of action by placing a shortcut to the "Execute Code" DnD option.

Edit:
On a more related note, perhaps YYG could include a small search filter on the coding text input box? Then I could place key words in my code and use the search to highlight it making it much easier to locate the section of code I want to look at.

Oh... you can! I always assumed that little magnifying glass was for increasing the size... this makes my life a lot easier!

I'll admit my bad on that one.

This would make some things much easier so I'd like to see it implemented. However, in some way, we should still be able to combine code with D&D if desired.

Rusty's problem would be solved if the script editor had code folding.

Basically:

That would actually be a lot nicer and easier to organize.
