Hi everyone. I am a composer from Australia, and I am happy to compose one or more tracks for your game(s).
About me
I am a 13-year-old who discovered composition not long ago, but since then I have devoted lots of spare time to this very rewarding hobby.
Yes, I am legitimately 13. But before you leave thinking, "Pfft, why on earth would I want a 13 year old to compose music for my game?!" consider this: for the first six months of running this service, I said that I was 17 years old. Nobody questioned this at all, and people were very satisfied with my composing service. So please, do not judge me for my age. Anyway, to move on:
I am constantly looking for ways to improve, and I believe that the best way to get good at something is to practice doing it as much as you can. So to get better, I am offering you music for your games, free of charge. All I ask for is that you credit me as either "icymx" or my real name, Patrick Brett.
I use FL Studio 10 to compose, and have been doing so since about October 2011. I have been playing piano for 5 years, and I am glad I discovered composition as it uncovers a whole new area of music that I hadn't touched before. I have found that since I began composing music, not only have I improved at composition, but my general musical skills have greatly improved as well. Although, I find that I am constantly "improving" the songs I'm supposed to be playing at concerts and whatnot xD
Conditions:
1. I will try and complete all requests within a short amount of time, however I may be rather busy.
2. You may request up to 3 songs per person per week. If you make more requests than this I will discard all but the first three. If you would like to request more than 3 songs at a time (for a whole project), send me a PM saying you would like to hire me and I will shut down this topic temporarily.
3. Credit must be given to either my real name, Patrick Brett, or my username, icymx. It would also be appreciated if you PM me a link to your game when it is complete.
4. I will not make:
- Music for fangames
- Music for games containing any of the following:
- Excessive violence
- Sexual refereces/content
- Coarse language (any words worse than "crap")
- Anything else that is inappropriate- Sound effects
- Remixes
5. If you request for music while I'm not available, I will discard the request. And eat it. Period.
6. I have every right to reject a request, but hopefully I won't need to.
7. You are only eligible to request if you have 20 or more active posts. This is because new GameMaker users often never finish their games. While this is not always the case, adding this condition will hopefully decrease the amount of compositions that don't get used, and give more experienced members higher priority.
8. Due to issues with child labour (seriously), I cannot compose music for you if your game will make any money.
Requests form:
You must fill in all details of the mandatory section, and as many as you like from the optional section.
Mandatory:
Mood: e.g. Slow, powerful
Length: e.g. 2 1/2 mins
Speed: either BPM's or slow/medium/fast
Looped: yes/no
Description of game style: e.g. Sinister dungeon RPG
Preferred format: mp3, wav, ogg, m4a, wma, mid
Optional:
Instruments: e.g. Violin, bass, synth
Drums: none/few/some/many
Bitrate: 32kbps to 320kbps, if not provided I will choose what I feel is appropriate
Screenshots/Video: A video of your game or some screenshots to set me in the right direction.
Song to base the composition off of: This can help me set the mood right.
Demo: (A link to your game)
Other info: e.g "I would like the intro to be electric guitar"
Entering information from the optional section will aid my composition and I will generally produce a more suitable piece.
All requests that do not use at least the mandatory section of the requests form will be moved to the bottom of my priority list and as a result, will take longer to be received.
Why choose me?
- I can compose in practically any genre, from Orchestral to 8-bit to Blues - you name it. And if you would like a song from a genre I haven't composed in before, I can do that too. Just don't complain if I fail epicly.
- I work for absolutely nothing. That's right - not a single song I make will cost you a cent.
- I can do single requests, or entire games. If you wish to hire me, send me a PM.
- I can give you the music in any format you like - midi, mp3, ogg, wav, whatever.
- By requesting from me, you are not only receiving free music, but you are also helping me get even better as a composer. Just look at some of the early pieces in this topic, and then compare them to the more recent ones xD

Length: 30 seconds
Speed: The speed of the music found in linked video
Looped: no
Description of game style: Magical Girls Anime Platformer
Preferred format: mp3
Optional:
Instruments: The same instruments used in the Sailor Moon transformations (see linked video)
Song to base the composition off of: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=HsX0VHMw_Z8
Other info: Start off as if charging up, then blast with high energy throughout and then end with a grand finale. Listen to the music used in these Sailor Moon transformation sequences and use the exact same instruments used in the sequences. I want to listen to this and feel enchanted with that feeling that only a Magical Girls Anime from the early / mid 90's can provide. I'd also like it if a hint of robotic female voices can be heard at the appropriate moment(s) singing/chanting "Nancy Stargaze Transforming Into Nanolyn" ever so gently and elegantly. (Pronounced, "Nann-Oh-Linn") It may be difficult, but you can do it!

Revenge of that evil guy from another dimension or something (mp3)
Revenge of that evil guy from another dimension or something (ogg)
@Dimidoosie not sure if I can pull off the female robot voice... My microphone is awful. But I could try doing with a Generator I guess. I have a VST called Voice Synthesiser so if I can get it to pronounce that one word right...
