Take control of the mighty Bowser and fight against the Mushroom soldiers trying to take over the Koopa Kingdom!

This game takes most of its inspiration from the classic Super Mario Bros, though inspiration for Bowser is taken from a combination of Super Mario Bros 3 and another fangame, Super Mario XP.

This game has online high score lists. You can view them in the game by choosing "Synchronize Lists" in the high score table (which will also send your local high scores to the online high score list).

Enjoy the game, and do please let me know what you think! <img src='http://gmc.yoyogames...DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

If you want an old version of this game, you can find all previously released versions here:

Why time zones? Why?!! I was really looking forward to playing the full version.

This is my favourite game on the GMC, it's so much fun - Yeh, I'm talking to you casual viewer that always looks at the first post before deciding whether or not to download. :P

I really recommend it if you like platformers.

I like this. This is my first time playing the game. I took note that you used a good collision mask. And not the precise garbage, make the game faster. Also for what's in it the .exe comes small which is great. I hate it when people make the exe's big and the data folders small.

Good job, rated it 5 on the site.

World 8 looks much better, and the final boss is really difficult (as it should be). The wizard toad was easy though.

Uhhhhh....... Please update that Mediafire link with the correct version. I just spent the last couple hours or so playing, just to be met with the game ending at 8-1...

Darn, that last boss was hard! I'm unbelievably glad you thought of having some alternate controls for jumping and attacking, otherwise it would have taken a LOT longer than it did since I wouldn't have been able to hit him while going left. (trying to be intentionally vague here so as to not give away the secret to beating the boss... :D)

It's pretty amazing that something with such a small filesize actually has eight full worlds and a lot of variety. And it took you... *checks calendar* under two months??? Wow. Yeah, it's come a long way from the first version I tried. It's really fun. Nice job!

Whoa! Sorry about that! And I could've sworn I enabled email notification, so I didn't notice the reply. Anyway, the link is correct now. If you still have the save file (i.e. you didn't let the game end), it'll still work in 1.0.0, though it's a bummer you missed the cutscenes between Worlds 4 and 7 (I think). Again, sorry!

You're lucky the game is pretty damn enjoyable, so I'll restart it anyway :) I did feel like some cutscenes were missing, but I wasn't sure if it was intentional or not. Either way, I'm off to play it again!

Don't forget that no matter how good the game may be - GMC game topics generally need a few bumps to get going. Maybe make some update - like ghost mode, where the player races your ghost to the finish, the amount of health missing at the end would incur a time penalty, there shouldn't be a flag - The winner is the first person to get to the castle door.

Also - even if you don't do that - you should make is posable to jump on the castle (ie. make the floors platforms) - just for the fun of it.

I hope you realise that you're going to have to keep adding minor features to keep this game in the limelight so that it has time to gather enough replies to be self perpetuating. Anything to let you bump. Advertise!

This game is fantastic - it deserves more attention.

Well, if you have easy suggestions, let me hear them. I've already added in top-solid platforms to the castles, but that's not really enough for me to bother releasing an update. And no, I won't add in any sort of racing mode. I did briefly consider adding online high scores, but that would be quite a bit of work and to be honest, I'm not sure it's worth it.

You could use this: http://gmc.yoyogames...howtopic=489983

And no, I won't add in any sort of racing mode.

Ok... Why?

Well, if you have easy suggestions, let me hear them.

Maybe make something equivalent to the skulls in halo, but not all negative. You find red coins scattered across the world - and you unlock effects through them, such as:
  • Bowser bomb goes through infinite layers of blocks.
  • Bullet bills don't die when you bounce on them.
  • Small fast toads are twice as fast - ie. four times as fast as normal.
  • Instant power bar recharge.
  • Two health maximum.
  • Infinite health.
  • Bowser destroyed weak bricks by simply jumping on top of them. (though he can walk on them)
Though obviously all these red coins would stop you getting score.
I'm sure there are better ideas - the point is that you have to make some kind of update, your WIP topic became hot, whereas this one is stagnating because of the way forums work.

A racing mode wouldn't make sense. It's the same reason I removed firebars during BLS's development; Bowser is slow and not exactly the racing type.

Those suggestions sound like a weird combination of god-mode and super-hard mode characteristics being unlocked by collectible items. I definitely won't be doing that, simple reason being that simple items like that may be easy enough to program, but preventing them from ruining the game is another thing entirely.

I understand you want some sort of update to drag more attention into BLS, but Bowser's Last Stand is complete. Unless it's very small (i.e. won't ruin anything or take too much effort) or a bugfix, I don't want to do it. If that means Bowser's Last Stand gets less attention than it deserves, so be it. I created BLS mostly because I thought it could be a fun game (and it is), not to attract attention. Attention is just a very nice side-effect. I don't mean to sound like a stubborn prick, I just don't see the point in adding novelties just to get a fangame that I made for fun more attention. Of course, though, BLS is open source, and if you want to make improvements, I will have no problem at all with you doing that, and heck, as long as it's not game-breaking, I'll be glad to make it the official "1.1" release.

I know exactly what you mean, I actually hadn't thought my ideas were very goo while posting them, the game is finished - I just hate to see it drift off into the depths of the forums. I don't think you're being a prick at all, I completely agree with you, it just feels like such a pity for people not to find this game. I guess I could put some kind of banner in my sig if you made it.

Well, I still haven't mentioned BLS anywhere except here and MFGG, so I do want to mention it in other Mario fan forums where it's allowed.

Hey, didn't I tell you? I couldn't make graphics to save my life. ;) I even tried to make a simple "Download" button for my website and it looked so bad that I opted to just use text.

I was hoping you were exaggerating, since I suffer from a similar ailment. I'll just add a text link.

Edit: Nicely designed website btw.

Sure. Here are the topics I've posted outside the GMC:

MFGG: http://forums.mfgg.n...php?f=8&t=12814
Super Mario Boards: http://www.marioboar...p?topic=15428.0
NintendoLand: http://nintendoland....php?f=69&t=7896
Mario Mayhem: http://www.mariomayh...and-t-3325.html

Edit: Nicely designed website btw.

Thanks! I recently did a bit of a design overhaul. Glad to hear it's good! :)

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I just got a new high score in BLS: 632,260.
