Does anyone have any experience in doing so and/or success stories? I cant seem to find any info about it in google/forum search.

I'd be interested to hear what that process is if anyone is willing to share. Specifically things like implementing the steamworks API and etc. Do you need to know more than GML to do so - that kind of thing.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

I don't even think there's a way to get Steamworks integrated into GM. Valve would've had to make an extension for GM, and that wouldn't be worth their time. Unless there's some black magic that will allow Steam to work with GM, I'm pretty sure you're out of luck.

I think there has been 2 or 3 GM games on steam. Forgot the name of the games though. But a new one is soon to be released on steam. That surprised me, but latest GameMakerBlog etry is saying that 'Serious Sam : The random encounter' was made in GM.

I emailed the creator of 'Legend of Fae' which is the only GM game I've known to be on Steam. This is my post about that in another thread:

I contacted Endless Fluff, the creators of 'Legend of Fae' about their game being on Steam. Carolina replied very quickly and kindly to my questions, and gave a few insights I thought may be of interest (paraphrased and reordered her words for clarity):

[...] To get the game running on Steam they hired another programmer and used very few of the Steam features, in order to keep the release stable (GM and Steam can be problematic together). Nonetheless there are still some bugs popping up with Steam. As for getting their foot in the door, they hired a marketing manager recommended by another developer. [...]

Hope that helps. :)
