hey, I've been using game maker for a while and am quite skilled with D&D and slight coding and i was working on a game similar to mario, without the gravity sort of an olden day video game. I'm using Game maker 8 pron and yesterday i opened up my game and went to run the game and the program stopped working. I've tried closing and re-opening. I've restarted my computer. Nothing works. it opens the game just fine but won't run it. any ideas?

Somthing like that happened to once me I think. Do you mean when you tried to execute the game it would load but then the game would not actually start up?

Run the game in debug mode (the red arrow) and look at where the game stops responding... if it is while loading, then it will say at what point. For example, if it stops at the "initialise sounds" section then it may be that you need to update your sound drivers or that one of your included sounds/music files is corrupt.

I tried that. It detected nothing. As soon as i run the game in any mode the whole program stops responding.

So you get no loading bar at all? And have you opened task manager to see if the memory is going up or if the exe is at least active?
