Actually, I'm not much better. When I was just a little kid playing Pokémon on my GameBoy Color, I thought they had an animation for each possible way the player could walk in the entire game.
Like, a case for two steps up and one to the right.
But then again, I was only 9-10 back then.

That it was really difficult. So I never bothered to try, even though I was aware of tools like GameMaker. But once I created a few games, I realized how easy it actually was. What was your biggest misconception before you started making games?
Of course, creating a really good game is still pretty difficult.

What was your biggest misconception before you started making games?
Well, I never really jumped to conclusions about how games were made... but when I got game maker I had the misconception that I could make epic games right off the bat.

And you would have to type things like that to even get a single letter.
First game I remember playing was sim city btw.

That games had programming, graphics and sound, and nothing else, and that by having good programming, good graphics and good sound you automatically had a good game. What was your biggest misconception before you started making games?
Now I know that there's another, crucial element, called game design

Not sure that's really a misconception. Tragically, many games are just programming, graphics and sound. That games had programming, graphics and sound, and nothing else, and that by having good programming, good graphics and good sound you automatically had a good game. What was your biggest misconception before you started making games?

I was similar; I knew I needed to learn, but I always believed doing a Banjo-Kazooie would be easy once I learnt the basics.
Meh.

Wow... ...I am so happy I was not the only one!Mine was that I used to think 3d games (like DOOM) had millions of frames drawn in MS Paint and the frames cycled depending on where the player was.
I had the same idea.

But in the general "programming" field, I had a huge misconception about web design. Back before I started working with web design myself (must have been over 10 years ago), I used to think that you couldn't just make a site. I thought only major companies were allowed to make websites, and the personal pages had to be bought from those major companies. Imagine my surprise when I found a website teaching people how to code in HTML
To be fair, I was also about 10 years old at the time.

... I've been proving that misconception wrong for about 4 years now.
