In the room editor, the tiles change their depth based on their x and y position while you're placing them. The depth problem doesn't carry over to the game, but it makes it nearly impossible to work with tiles in a lot of cases.
How can I fix this bug? My current version is 8.1.35 standard.

Does anybody know an answer to this? It is really annoying. Because of this glitch I am finding it damn-near impossible to use GM8.1. As the OP stated, the tiles are sorted by x and y values in the room_editor, while everything works as it should in the game. This makes placing tiles very confusing.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

I actually switched back to my old 8 for this very reason.

There's a very simple solution: use different tile layers for tiles that may overlap (if you make proper tilesets, they shouldn't actually ever overlap anyway).

Please don't necro-bump a topic... especially when it has already been argued to death in another topic recently!
