Help! My game's exe file is too big! Is it ok?

He has lite!!! That is the problem, using external resorces is limited in lite!try compressing the .exe just search for file compresser on cnet downloads ;-)

dont dump your music, send it to me and ill convert it to a MUCH smaller format for you. just put the files you want compressed in a zip, upload and pm it to me!

How do you do it? What do you convert mp3 to for smaller format?

Hello! I just dropped by to say that the first post is incredibly informative (yet brief) and that all threads in the Q&A forums should be like this one.

About the music, I've seen quite a few people mention .ogg as a great extension.

Its 2011, almost 2012, 100 mb is no big deal, hell, even Yahoo allows you to email 100mb files now for free. Make the game the way you want it. WHy cut corners, its not 1990.

Checking the omniscient manual, it states that

This functionality is only available in the Standard Edition of GameMaker.

so external resources are not available in Lite, unless the manual is wrong, or someone forgot to prohibit those functions.
A weak workaround this would be executing a premade command line application made in another language to play a given sound, as MCI_command() is not supported in lite either.

BTW, is there a way to open external mp3 without using default music player?
