Since I can't locate GM7 for Windows since I want to make my game compatible for Mac without making it twice, when will GM8 for Mac come out?
Is it even being made or are they completely neglecting the Mac market entirely?

Why can't you use GM8 to compile your Mac GMK? I build my games on Mac and compile a Windows version in GM8. I seems to work for me.

There are currently no plans to create GM8 for Mac, we are planning on GM9 to run on Mac and Windows - we have decided that the extra man power to make GM8 for Mac is not worth it and are concentrating on making GM9 as good as possible and cross platform.

Russell, the OP is really asking when we'll have a Mac version that's compatible with the current Windows version. I don't think he cares what number it is.

You skillfully side-stepped that question. So on behalf of the OP: is there a target date for GM9 ?

Sometime before 2020 I think is fair to say..... Although YoYo has a terrible reputation for hitting it's own dates

I'm building in Windows and compiling to Mac. I'm starting at GM8 for Windows then moving it to GM7 for Mac. The different versions don't seem to get along that well.
However I'm going to try what you're doing. I believe it does work if I start at version 7 then work it up to version 8. But it doesn't work downgrading from 8 to 7.
I'll try what you're saying though, I seem to remember reading something about that working. Thanks for the help!

...we have decided that the extra man power to make GM8 for Mac is not worth it...

So Mac users have to pay the same price for GM, even though it's a version behind, but they're not worth it? Ouch!!!

Mac users have to pay $40 for the Mac Pro version rather than the $25 for the Windows Pro version.
If that wasn't bad enough the Mac GM is a version behind like you said, and it also has less features in it's Lite version.
Such as you cannot make .exe files without Pro.

You're confused.

Mac users have to split the bill of porting to the platform. Less users = bigger share of bill. I'm more than happy to pay $40 for a substandard version, since the alternative is none.

The Windows version increased to $40 at the same time the Mac one did. That's what he's getting at.

Everyone here seems to be more aware of GM4Mac's pricing than you, Vertical Radius.

Since Russell answered your question, I shall be locking this.
