I'm in a rush, so I only played the first level, but what I've seen of it, it's awesome. Smooth gameplay, but hard controls. Good graphics. I would like to see more of this! Posted Image

It's nice. I didn't like the forced fullscreen without any need, but the whole Super Meat Boy / Planet Landers mix is good.

Hey guyz.
@Fat kid in your fridge: well it's a shame the other levels are quite more challenging and fun (IMO anyway :D) WAD is standard moving controls, but will add the option to choose own controls since players want to adjust with their own style (am I right?) I am as a matter of fact still adding features and will add new challenges and obsticles with time and as the levels progress, but for now this is only the basic engine, expect to see a lot more EYE candy such as lens flares and so on....

@Shadowrend: Sorry about that, will add it to info. I just force full screen so the computer will run more smooth especially for those (just like me) with weak GPU's and will add the option but for now it's just to up performance for everyone. Super meat boy? never heard of it, will check it out. I was aiming to have a tad bit originality but nowadays it's quite hard ain't it. anyhow pop in with the next update you'll be surprised.

Thanks guys for the posts :)

You know what annoys me, is when people download your game but doesn't have the decency to leave a comment. I mean come on! I don't mind if you like it or not. Just state your honest opinion and suggestions, it only takes a few minutes of your time. It took days of my time to write this game for you. It's the least you can do.

Well, first of all, not everyone who downloads your game has an account here. Don't worry if the replies don't start rolling in immediately. The number of replies isn't really indicative of the quality of a game anyway, unless there are more than five pages, then you know you've got something... Anyway, sometimes I see topics with three pages of useless complaints. Dunno about you, but I'd rather have two or three good comments instead of that.

Anyway, it's a nice start. I know it's your main feature, but ease up on the gravity a little. It was ridiculously hard to control until I got the rhythm (exactly like your post says :)). But still, the best challenging games make every restart feel like it's something the player did, and that they can do better the next time around, instead of making you feel like you're going to crash regardless. The game should be hard, not the controls.

I liked the simplicity of your game, though. All it needs is some sound. Fast-paced 8-bit music, anyone?

@TheUltimate: Hey man, yeah I kinda thought about that, a bit too late tho. Just sucks when you work your arse off and then people don't leave comments, it's kinda disappointing. anyhow I do agree with you, good comments that are constructive really gives one a boost in morale.

I always wondered about the intensity of the gravity and since your not the first to complain about it I've decided to adjust it for the upcoming update. I have some music that i downloaded just for the feel(TEMP SONGS), but I've never really done sound programming and it's going a bit awry. the music controller is giving me trouble, perhaps you have tips on how to create a simple music player that chooses from a list of songs, when one song ends and plays it, also changing a song by force if you're in the menu? i have an example but it seems to be eating my CPU making the game lag, not cool not cool. ANY Help would be appreciated.

Kind regards
ZeplashStudios

P.S. I just thought of something. i will allow the player to choose the gravity intensity when he/she creates a profile, (thus ensuring re playability) maybe add different ship models for different intensities? ANY COMMENTS ON THIS?

I played some more levels, and I really like it. There's not much to do in the start menu ;) But I liked the concept and graphics. This might be one of my favorite games of all time. Maybe you could add enemies or something?

Hey Guyz,

@Borut: Thanks a bunch ey, smoothness is my main aim. still a few rough edges to work on tho.

@Twelveways: Thanks man, I agree on that ;)

@Fat Kid In Your Fridge: Thanks ey, If you noticed, your old save file is compatible, so then you have no need to unlock everything again. The start menu is still fairly incomplete, but let me explain what's gonna be in the next feature. I plan to add accounts, so multiple people can play on one machine. or one person can have an account for each difficulty (of which will be differences in the stability and model of the ship). in the profile you can adjust the background color (currently set to random) you actually unlock the different colours and also gives you how many times you died and so on. (Statistics of your profile.) then options will be the usual screen settings, sound and effects and controls (which also loads with each profile) help is currently working but isn't completely to my liking....

As for the enemies . . . I was planning on adding rockets, instant lazers and scanning drones, I dont want to focus too much on them but more on how to make the player interact with the room. like fans and gravity points and lazer doors, triggers and so on, I want to stop at level 30 and add a Boss. any suggestions are welcome. then maybe in the next version i can focus more on enemies and so on.

I AM GLAD TO SAY THAT I'M NEVER GOING TO ASK FOR ANY MONEY or what so ever, this is going to stay freeware no matter what.

Kind regards,
ZeplashStudios

Good game... Nice simple graphics and gameply, with a very nice presentation. I didn't like the constantly changing background, however and think it would have been better one colour per room. Also the lack of a fullscreen/windowed option and customisable controls (don't like WASD!) is also a negative... But these are minor points given the overall polish and fun of the game!

Oh, and I have one question : Have you played my game Minimal? I think you'll find it surprisingly similar!!!!

Hey again,

Yeah it's in many ways alike, I must say I like the electric field and the idea that you must collect the RGB to advance to the next level. really nice indeed.

As for GRAVIPIXEL, I agree the changing background isn't that appealing it was mostly for debugging ( I wanted to see what different colors might work with the black) I'll definitely add a unlock system where you unlock the colors. (Kinda like Greentech). Where you mentioned,"Also the lack of a fullscreen/windowed option and customisable controls (don't like WASD!)" I'm currently working on it so each profile will have it's own preferences. don't worry tho next version will smite thee. :D haha. anyhow as for now, I'm off to play a little more minimal. ;)

Kind regards,
ZeplashStudios.
P.S thanks for the posts guyz, much apreciated.

Hi

I think it would be cool if the gravity were occasionally reversed. Maybe a timer in the room that when it reches zero would reverse the gravity and reset itself.

Another idea (maybe wouldnt fit into your game idea) would be to drop bombs, these could be used to hit switches or kill enemies.

Keep it up, I think a simple game like this could be very poopular.

Dang! That is probably the most frustratingfuncompellingdifficultpainfulchallenging games I've played in a while! :woot:

But seriously... normally I hate these kind of games that make you try to do one seemingly simple repetitious task while making absurdly difficult to complete. I don't know... something about this is different. After the first few times of throwing myself into the walls willy nilly, I was like :ninja: **** just got real. Then I beat it and got destroyed by the next level, but that doesn't matter.

The game runs really smoothly, but I do have some criticisms:

Controls: I thought using the WAD for movement was... awkward. I don't use my left hand enough for detailed stuff like this. Control options would be nice. (Would have preferred arrow keys for my right hand.)

Graphics: They're smooth, and they do the job, but they just don't do the job with finesse. Making some simple, playful vector backgrounds would breath some life into it. Also, this is just a personal thing... but I think it would be a really great addition to give the thing a face. Nothing detailed, vector eyes and a mouth. Then have it react in comical ways to what's happening to it: maybe have it chewing when you get a pixel, relieved when you get to the end, panic and look down when you drop too fast, shut its eyes in terror when you get really close to the ground while moving quickly, have its eyes dart around in terror at the nearest spikes... stuff like that. Adding this amount of personality - into both the backgrounds and the character - would give the game that much more life.

Haha, oh really? hopefully more fun than frustrating?

well it's supposed to progress in difficulty, some levels do have a dip just to give the player a bigger crash on the level thereafter muhaha.

Controls: I thought using the WAD for movement was... awkward. I don't use my left hand enough for detailed stuff like this. Control options would be nice. (Would have preferred arrow keys for my right hand.)

This is strange? did you download the newest version? coz it has profiles, in which you can choose from 3 different control schemes and other nifty things like background color. Coz some people like me "left hand" love WASD but others like "right hand" love arrows. coz it's better placement. so I did take that into account. you can find this in the options, when you're in the main menu you press left and right to scroll through choices.

Graphics: They're smooth, and they do the job, but they just don't do the job with finesse. Making some simple, playful vector backgrounds would breath some life into it. I've given this very much thought and I do agree with you to an extent. I will try and do a parallax vector background effect to give depth. and maybe different face-sets as unlockables? I'm thinking of adding achievements as well. :)

Thank you very much for testing this game, I'm going to remove the old link, so other's won't accidently download the wrong one.

Thanks again.
