Mod edit: I have closed this topic in light of a recent decision not to allow programs that embed exes on this forum. These programs run an exe with full access to your system, and can therefore be more of a danger than one usually expects when browsing a web page (as was pointed out in post #9 below)

I am happy to announce you can now upload your games to the Fridday13Games database, and play them in browser via eRun on Friday13Games.com or your OWN website.

To upload a game to [link removed], and select "Upload a Game". When you create an account with Switchit001.com Servers you will automatically get 1GB of storage for any game you want to upload to Friday13Games.com

How to use eRun
Step 1-10 Uploading a Game
Step 1: Go to [link removed] and create an account
Step 2: Go to [link removed]
Step 3: Click "Upload a Game"
Step 4: Fill out all fields with indicated information, then click next
Step 5: Select eRun, then click next
Step 6: Leave the embed options on default, then click next
Step 7: Upload your game in a .zip file
Step 8: Upload a screen shot of your game in the .gif format
Step 9: Wait for the files to upload
Step 10: Done! Go Play your game at [link removed]
Step 11-15 Putting a game on your OWN website
Step 11: Go to [link removed]
Step 12: Click "My Games"
Step 13: Locate the plus (+) button, and click it
Step 14: Copy the HTML code in the textbox in the new window
Step 15: Paste the HTML code in your website

Games on eRun
-Ulo The Snake http://friday13games...lay.php?game=63
-Blocks Online http://friday13games...lay.php?game=46
-Teddy Online http://friday13games...lay.php?game=47
-Translation http://friday13games...lay.php?game=62

Compatability
For eRun to work properly you must have java installed. eRun will work with almost any browser, but has been tested and proven to work on the major browsers listed below (If you believe a browser should be added to this list post a comment in this topic).

Although eRun will work with older versions of Java and web browsers it is recommended you keep your Java and browser update for best performance with eRun. Support can only be given to customers with an updated browser and Java.

Supported browsers

Internet Explorer
Google Chrome

I'm not sure if this is a glitch of my fault (probably a glitch) but when I uploaded a game :
http://friday13games...ay.php?game=119

The name is supposed to be
Kirby's Boss Survival
but instead it says
Kirby/3s Boss Survival

when i set the game name before uploading, i am pretty sure it had a apostrophe.

btw for anyone thats going to play it, its incomplete, i mean the UI isnt showing (since the info needed is supposed to be in the title bar), so dont play it yet.

Also can you add some kind of support so what ever is on the title bar gets shown somewhere on top of the game, since the game only shows the window not including the title bar.

When you upload a game the database changes any apostophies to \3, and I forgot to change it back on the page. I will fix that, and add an optional title bar feature in the next few days.

okay, i just updated my game, i added the ui, so its now playable.
http://friday13games...ay.php?game=119

Although the one thing that's annoying is the size restriction to width of 740, are there any chances of increasing that to say 1000?
Its causing me to use views in my game, which zooms out basically to be able to make my game size 740 width, which makes the graphics and drawn text somewhat blurry.

I uploaded my game, and when I went to test it, this happens:

Error while getting browser info (Error 2.3)

How do I fix it, re-upload it again?

I'd just like to warn folk that while this sounds pretty cool, it's REALLY dangerous. Allowing ANY .exe from the web to "just run" is really opening up your machine to some serious abuse from viruses, or worse. Some one could just nuke your machine from an .exe.

If any site wants to run a program like this, unless you really, REALLY know who provided the program, you should never allow it.

I'm currently trying to find the cause of this error, please answer the questions below so I can find what is causing it.
-what browser are you using
-what version of windows are you using
-what version of java are you using
-does this happen on every eRun game, or just yours

I agree, you should take precaution before allow any script to run on your computer, however Friday13games.com takes many steps to ensure games uploaded to friday13games.com and or eRun are free of viruses. First all uploaded games are scanned by TrendMicro virus scanner, which is why you must upload a game to use eRun. If for any reason a virus gets past the scanner out staff will check EVERY uploaded game within 24 hours and remove games infected with viruses.

Unknown Java applets can be very dangerous, but eRun is as safe or safer than downloading games from YoYoGames.com or similar sites.

Try re-uploading the game and see if that works, but at the moment I'm still trying to figure out the cause of the problem. 2.3 is a rare error, and I'm having a hard time collecting enough data to find the cause. After the error is fixed I will post a message here about it.

I just added a loading bar, and increased the speed of eRun. Games should download a lot faster now, and you'll be able to track their progresss. If anyone has any problems with or suggestions for eRun please post them below or send an e-mail to mangement@switchit001.com.

First and last games worked for me, both the online games did not. the loading screen is kind of unprofessional and seems pretty irrelevant with most games. maybe you could change it something a little bit more non-descript so that it doesn't clash with the atmosphere of most games? (just a thought)

cool program btw

Thanks for posting! It looks like the mail server is having problems, I'll get that fixed ASAP.
EDIT: Ok I fixed the problem. If you go to the registration page an create a new account (you can use the same info as before) you should get an e-mail now.

Thanks. I'm actually working on a new version of eRun that will allow you to customize the loading screen to match your game.

If you are trying to embed an exe in your game there should be a file called example.exe and example.gmk in that file. If you are trying to embed your game into a webpage you need to use eRun original, not eRun GM. I have listed instructions on how to use both programs below.

eRun Original (Embed your game into a webpage)
-Go to Friday13Games.com/dev.php
-Click upload a game
-Follow the instructions (no download is needed)

eRun GM (Embed an exe into your game)
-Download the eRun GM + Example: Download (recommended) file. It should have example.exe, example.gmk, functions.gmk, libeRun_GM_DLL.dll, and LICENSE AGREEMENT. If it is missing any of these files try re-downloading it. If the files are still gone post which files your are missing here.
-Open example.gmk
-Open eRun_Sample_OBJ
-Go to the alarm event
-Replace the path in eRun_start("C:\Windows\System32\mspaint.exe") with the path of the program you wish to embed in your game
-Run the game, if you need to change the window size or other features play around with the code in eRun_Sample_OBJ

It was just a corrupt download on my part. Problem solved.

Question, are you going to release the version that allows people to embed their GM game into a website? It would be great if people could host the site themselves along with erun and not have to rely on an outside source, just asking?

Steps 11-15 in the first post of this topic tell how to embed the .exe in your own website. You will still have to upload the game to Friday13Games.com (If I let people host their games on any service people would be able to easily use eRun to distribute viruses, which I do not want), but my site is online 24/7 so people should always be able to download your game.

You're kind of defeating the purpose of a "free tool" by not allowing people to do ALL the hosting themselves and by having to upload their game to your site. Too many times we have seen things hosted on other people's sites and then the site disappears (not saying your will). I understand your reasons for not doing it, but it is not that hard to distribute a virus within a GM game as it is without eRun (A NOVICE COULD DO IT), so by not allowing others to host everything themselves and having to upload to your site is just OVERKILL. You got a great product, put it in the hands of your users. But I understand it is yours do do with as you see fit.

I wish continued success to you!
