Yes, I knew there were still a few issues with this demo, but I figured I might as well upload it so people could play it instead of delaying it to perfect it.
The hint signs are really just for the tutorial, so after these first few levels you won't be seeing them anymore anyway. I will probably still change them somehow, though.
Does the game get too difficult when the policemen make an appearance?

Personally, no, because I was able to get all the children I needed without passing the police, but I did notice that his patrol route was rather small, which I can guess would have made him difficult to pass if I'd needed to.

Oh, that's a good idea! I should just make the patrol route longer. To me, it seemed like it required very careful timing to get past him; possibly too hard for a tutorial.

I like the sound effects so far, but I still think you need a few more, they can really add the the experience.
I'd put in a "flick" sound effect for when you throw candy, but nothing too big, since you'll hear it a lot.

"OOOO CANDY!" ahaha.
Sound is good so far it's adding to the feel of the game. I don't think its been mentioned specifically, but having a GUI image instead of just black is way more better both visually and on my eye's xD.
Good Job

Great work! I love the graphics update since the last version, and the title screen is awesome!

Yes, I totally agree: the game seems way too quiet now. I just haven't really gotten around to making or finding many good sound effects. I wanted to finish most of the game design first...

I don't know what it is or how you did it but the whole act of throwing candy how it looks and everything makes me smile.

Good JobI get email alerts on this topic so I don't miss something
.
Thanks! Yes, the candy throwing was the first real gameplay I made in this game, and it still seems like the best part of it.
I think the spellcasting is going to be good too. The way it works is a bit different than most games (you can cast a spell on the objects in the environment, and then they "spring to life" to aid you). My girlfriend laughs every time I show her that stuff, so I think I'm on the right track! :D

I've been adding a LOT of stuff to the game.
Update:
Oh, apparently I can't add any more!
I've replaced the old screens with 3 new ones...

Haven't had time to try the new version yet, but the graphics in the screenshots look MUCH improved!
Oh, I don't have a new version out yet, so don't get too excited.

I like working on it, but I really need some feedback so I know what changes to make!

I really liked the animate spell and the ability to switch between the witch and the cat. You have obviously put a lot of thought and love into this game and it shows.
It is a great concept, very original and all of your mechanics works well.
I found the game a little slow-paced, maybe this is just because it is just a small slice of the game but I didnot feel any danger or urgency with the gameplay.
I also think the game would be better if the witch was a sexy witch instead of an ugly witch, characters are usually cool, cute or sexy. If a protaganist is evil then they need a redeeming quality like charisma, I think a sexy witch could be done tastefully and well within your current style.
Don't give up.

It's true that it's a bit slow-paced. I just wanted it to have a light-hearted, relaxed feel. I was hoping to make this a game that could be accessible to almost anyone. However, if it gets too tedious after a while, I might consider changing the pace to something a bit more brisk.
I was hoping to make the witch character more appealing through the use of humour. It's not quite obvious in the game yet, but I was hoping to have a few running jokes about how her being a witch makes her not quite fit in with the ordinary people she keeps running into.

No, don't give up! These forums are just not good places to show off your games. It looks very good, and profesional enough to even sell, but I haven't tried it yet. I will do that now....

Yeah, you're probably right. This forum doesn't seem to have the same level of traffic it used to.
I like the idea of the ugly witch because it seems more original. That is, most witch characters seem to be portrayed as "sexy" and that image seems a bit over-used to me. I was also hoping to have a few humourous scenes in which the witch tries to be sexy...but fails.
