Get an add-on that lets you modify the CSS of the page.
Find the style: .yyg-header ul#menu li
Get rid of the "overflow: hidden" style. It shouldn't be there. Your dropdown menus will now work, and you can log-in and such.

Got to say I really hate the new 'style' game maker is going for.
I agree, I'm not a fan of dark websites. Especially on the GMC. It starts to hurt my eyes and gives me a headache after a while just looking at the pages of text.
Looking forward to the lighter version. For now I'll continue to use tangibleLime's skin.

Also, it's black so it uses less energy.

- The background is now dark gray with medium dark green and gray as the secondary color; causing certain elements and boxes to sort of bleed into each other as well as making the forum more tiresome to read.
- The fonts look out of place.
- The topic logos are flat and dull and with badly designed "fire" on the hot topics.
- My easy-to-access member control panel -- with quick links to my posts, topics and PM inbox -- is now non-functional for some reason, along with the log in button. I assume it was supposed to be on the top banner, but that one doesn't respond to my clicks despite lighting up when I hover over it. EDIT: It has started working now. Good.
- What remains of the old style, including smilies and certain other icons, were made to work on a white background and now looks bad as well with their dark outlines.
- No immediate option to switch back.
Sure, I will give it some time, but I honestly think this was a terrible change. Not quite as bad as that Game Maker icon you almost had going for a while, but still a bad choice of design. Don't go the way of YouTube and start messing with things that already work. I'll be looking forward to getting my white background back, at least.
May I ask what was wrong with the skin we already had, by the way? White and lime worked so much better than dark gray and green. It looked clean and professional. This looks... moody.
EDIT: And look; most text colors are now useless on the dark background. Standard blue, red and green? Bleeds out.

Gonna take some getting used to but it's all for the greater good - consistency - bravo yoyo
By the way, some of the smilies now have white border stuff around them - such as this here chicken

Anyways, It was a nice try, but it just doesn't work. Also the logo on top isn't very appealing. The top bar also isn't very good looking and it is actually pretty hard to navigate with. To add to this, the font of the links, such as the thread links, just don't match the style used on the site.
4/10. Sorry for my ratings, but that is how I saw it.

Preschool font, 1980s color scheme, and the light-on-dark are making my retinas explode!

I don't like the idea of the sidebar on the main page, one you scroll down past it the board has a huge space on the right... not good.
Plus most of my websites are still light themed... so switching to them and back to this hurts my eyes more than it used to.
