An explosion engine I'm working on for my upcoming game. This is the early stage, let me know what you all think about it or any new stuff that could be added...
This is an extension based on game cave's effect engine and GearGod's work.

Very nice effects. I especially like the warping effects. The bigger effects did cause a bit of slowdown. Just curious what kind of game you working on?

Also I sent you a pm :)

very good

Agreed. Some of these are fantastic, particularly the large ones. My only crit would be that some of the particles effects are obviously done using the standard GM particle shapes. It would be even better with some custom sprites too... Oh, and that shockwave effect seems exactly like GearGod's. Is it? If so, maybe credit him?

Yes that is GearGod's original, the physics bomb will be coming up over there. A modified one is used on "large 3" to give the heat haze effect.
Currently (large) 4,8 & 9 use sprites but I'll be moving on to use sprites for other explosions as well.

Good, great, awesome, outstanding, amazing!
You're so good, I can't make explosions on particles, or any particles for that matter...and I can't make them with sprites and maybe even hand-drawn. so wow.

It's very good. I wouldn't change anything. You could add more types similiar to 5 large. That's the best IMO. 8 and 9 large are awesome too!
Also massve explosions? Got me curious... :)But be careful with the framerate, the large ones slow it down a bit already.

It's the ripple effect that slows down.

..and maybe because of the amount of particles. I may have to work on an fps friendly version. If I lower the count and fake those with sprites, perhaps it will be less lag free.

Indeed, especially on Intel graphic cards, when I use my Nvidia it doesn't have any problems.
