Presidents and Paupers

May I reveal... my latest game!

It's Presidents&Paupers, the popular party/family card game, known by an assortment of other names, like Scum, Bum, and some that aren't so family-friendly.

The game is commercial, so it costs money. The windows version you can buy it from the Taihoa Publishing Web page for whatever price you think it's worth (minimum of $1 to cover costs, otherwise they'll charge us!!)

Here's a screenshot, to get your fingers itchy to play some cards!:

All ratings&comments appreciated! :D

Yes, it IS an installer. If this is a big problem for you (i.e. won't try) then let me know! I can see about getting a .zip file up.

Promotion

Currently, not running any promotion. Yet!

Cheers! Hope you enjoy the game!

Looks fun, but if you charge for it... If I was going to buy something, I would expect professional-quality graphics. I know your selling it cheap, but your graphics are really going to cut your player base, because a lot of people will be tuned off by the visuals. Have you considered getting those 3 people drawn professionally?

Ahh, yes, the old visuals sell the download, the gameplay sells the game. :D

I considered it, then made the decision to go it myself, and I'm pretty happy with my efforts, but more importantly, I'm starting to improve my own drawing skills. I think the characters are badly drawn, but I don't think they look bad, if you know what I mean. This is more a starting point for me, if I can market&sell games developed on a zero budget, with graphics created by me (or from a royalty free source) then, well, that opens a big door of potential. And I'm happy to say it IS selling slowly.. on the mac, anyway. :P

Really? You've made money? I always wonder how much money you can make off a game maker game. I'm interested in how much you've made so far.

I've made just under $40 so far with Presidents. All of it from the mac app store. Selling a game is really all about marketing(and having good graphics helps marketting :P ), and I've been shocking so far.. really haven't done anything at all, except send out a dozen or so review copies to different sites/blogs. The mac app store is good to me that way, many sites pick up the games and post them.

So not much, but I'm fairly pleased.. I have to start somewhere, and selling a few copies, is much better than zero!

Many other GM dev's do much better than me. Rinkuhero, TeeGee(Moacube.com), and hpapillon, have all made upwards of $10k. (some a LOT more, I suspect, but not everyone shares their stats!). There have been a couple other, less successful ones, who 'only' made a couple of thousand off their games. I'd heard that the mac port of YPWMIby 2dcube, sold over 4k copies on the mac app store..! Jealous. :)
