Is there a way to disable animated avatars?
I know I can disable avatars completely, but I use them to recognize people.
Maybe there should be a rule against animated avatars.

Nope. If you're desperate, make a Greasemonkey script pausing animations instantly or get someone to do so for you.

I can't read text with a 2 second animation playing dozens of times in the corner of my screen.

No, but if you flip your avatar vertically and remove the mouth it looks like a sad skull.Recognise me?

I could use chrome's equivalent.Nope. If you're desperate, make a Greasemonkey script pausing animations instantly or get someone to do so for you.
You're right. Who wouldn't want to see hands growing hands while trying to read text? You gotta be kidding me...
We're all just lucky that your posts are never more than a few words.
I have a large screen, so I sometimes see several animated avatars on one page.

In that case... IQbrew wears platform shoes and pretends he's Justin Bieber.

...
Don't worry, he'll never read this because of that animation playing in the background.

It wouldn't waste any space, in your case.No animations? Fine.
But then increase avatar size to 128x128!

Is this youtube? In that case... IQbrew wears platform shoes and pretends he's Justin Bieber.
For a second I thought someone had moronically brought up Justin Bieber for no valid reason.
All you forgot was a "I'm leaving for daycare and this had better be the top rated post when I come back."

No, I moronically brought up Justin Beiber for a valid reason: to test your claim about not being able to read text with animations playing. And obviously, you lied. This was a setup. For a second I thought someone had moronically brought up Justin Bieber for no valid reason.
But seriously, if an avatar is that annoying, why not just report it?

With Firefox and add block plus, you can disables images, with a simple right click.
I don't use firefox anymore anyway.I know I can disable avatars completely, but I use them to recognize people.

Hmm, didn't know that mod's did stuff for you if you found it annoying. I've reported your avatar, let's see if the mod's remove it for me.But seriously, if an avatar is that annoying, why not just report it?
edit: It worked!

They remove it if THEY agree it's annoying. How do you think I lost mine?Hmm, didn't know that mod's did stuff for you if you found it annoying. But seriously, if an avatar is that annoying, why not just report it?
So if IQbrew is having an issue with an annoying avatar, he should try that.
Excellent advice. +1Then use the chrome version?

I can't bother a mod with every animated avatar. So if IQbrew is having an issue with an annoying avatar, he should try that.
Even if they did remove them, it'd make more sense to have a rule against them.

I seriously can't see how animated avatars are that much of a nuisance.
Consider some ADHD medication if you get distracted that easily.

Are you saying all animated avatars are annoying? And should be disallowed? Doesn't seem fair to disallow all animated avatars just because one member finds them annoying.
But I agree some animated avatars are annoying. Those are the ones I suggested you report.
