Because you published this in GMS as a completed version. I'm giving you this review here too.
I'm wondering why this game hasn't got much appreciation? Yeah, it is pretty lacking, but if you note the quality of GMS's games and typical GM-zombiegames, this is great along the gameplay! Almost...
Myself I love this game. Trucker-zombies are my favourite, because they die in so cool way.
Let's continue to the real review:
--
EXtermination is a traditional zombiegame including great graphics and cheesy story. Man is driving a car, zombies are taking the city, somebody needs help... Well, what else could we do than save the guy?
EXterminatio's graphics are yummy for your eyes. Graphic is sometimes simple, but also really professional. Usage of the colors is really controlled, even it could be darker in a zombiegame. There's something negative in graphics too. For example main menu's graphics don't fit in ingame-graphics at all. Ingame has pretty old-fashioned atmosphere, but menu has really traditional photoshop graphics. Somtimes I didn't know, where am I able to jump, which places are good for walking pass and which stuff is helpful. At the beginning I thought that a green box was helpful, but it was only a prop. Also some background tiles are bad, because sometimes player got under them, and sometimes doorholes weren't recognized.
Gameplay could be better, even it has been fixed a bit. 1.0.0 version still had problems with zombies that were scratching the air. Luckily that has been fixed already. Otherwise the gameplay actually works pretty well. First it was hard to get used to keys, because it's necessary to have standard 'WASD'-keys. When jumping happened with space, it was hard to get used to it. It was also pretty hard to get use menu with WASD. Usually you use mouse in menus when you're playing "use WASD and mouse"-games. Otherwise the game is pretty much just normal platform with shooting. In 1.3 version there was 2 soothing features: crouching with 's'-button and headshots. Althought headshots make the game too much easier. One bullet in zombies' heads and they're dead. But headshots work only with normal Walker zombies. Still, game is a half easier because of headshots.
Challenge is a big plus! The story drops out and it feels like game is really short, but this is fixed with excellent difficulty. Sometimes you might get really mad, when you have no bullets and a big zombie horde surrounds you and leads you to the death. Also the challenging Leaper zombies made me rip my hair and armpit hair off. They're impossible to avoid. When you're out of bullets and gasoline, you have nothing else to do than run and jump away. This is challenging in narrow buildings.
Sound effects and musics were great, but sometimes really annoying. At the start - after the intro - the music starts way too loud. Players with headsets - beware. Also in the start of the game, the raining sound overpowers the music. Otherwise musics are awesome and homemade sound effects good for your ears.
Survival Mode gives some change for the game. After beating the Story Mode, you can start shooting zombies in the Survival Mode and shoot yourself to the top-10. Survival is also more challenging than Story Mode. Zombies are coming from every direction and you have no time to aim. There's nothing to explain. Death is near...
Good & Bad:
+ Wonderful graphics and colors
+ Homemade effects and awesome musics
+ Shooting the crap out of the zombies!
- Unimaginative
- No finishing
- Short gaming time

Synopsis:
Traditional 2D zombieshooter with great graphics, wonderful audio and challenge, but which is unfinished and has a lack of imagination--
Last thing: thoughts of undersigned about game characters (Thanks to Panic for permission to use his sprites):
Walkers
Normal zombies. Slow and boring zombies give alot of blood and shooting to the game. I would like to see a big stage with hundreds of these!
Leaper
Probably the most ANNOYING zombie of the game. Runs really fast towards the player and is impossible to avoid. Jumping will lead you to the doom. If you're out of bullets you can just say 'bye bye' and run the hell out of there. Sometimes you should try to trick Leaper to fall from the edge, if it's possible.
Widow/Woman
Female zombies that joins in the game pretty late. Shoots weird green slimeballs. Easy to defeat crouching and dodging the slimes. Dangerous with the Leaper.
Trucker
Fat Trucker Zombie is the most durable zombie in the game and makes really really much damage and throws player to the walls. There's a way to defeat it without bullets: saw him with a chainsaw before he punches. Jump over him, and saw again. Absolutely the coolest death in the game.
Fred TaylerThe main character and a tough guy based on his look. And his feeling to kill. A cop, that goes to save Michio.
MichioVictim of zombie horde. There's no background information of him. Tried to contact Tayler with radiotelephone.
RyderGuy who arrives in the game's ending. Michio's friend who had came to get some weapons against the zombies but found wounded Michio and zombie-killer Tayler.
Small ending mention: And you can see my name in the credits. Wow! =) (Astraali Ape)And sorry of my bad english. This was originally in finnish and I translated it at night. There's alot of mistakes.
