SERVER STATUS: Offline

Hello and welcome to Revolution War W.I.P topic!
Well I had to create an online game for my school project, but since I have some more ideas to improve the gameplay, I have decided to release the game to my main team [Courage Wolf Productions].

What is the game about? What is the point of winning?
Revolution War game is about revolutionary war which was started between england and america. You are fighting for the nation you decide. The point of the game is to win your enemy with smartplay and brainuse to create the right army for the right price. It includes full simulation of soldier fights with a nice game design.

Currently the game includes:

Single player mode
  • Multiplayer mode
  • Full soldier creating system
  • 24/7 server

What has to be done left?

  • Finishing single player mode
  • Adding sounds
  • Creating a good intro and story

If you got any idea, or you are ready to help in any kind of getting resources or making your own, we are appreciated from you to help us!

Looks good, I like the sprites! As well as an intro and story to the game, a campaign map of the thirteen colonies would be nice. It could show how strong the enemy is in places and be strategically interesting.

This game was fun, very nice graphics; clean and consistent. I didn't like how it threw me straight into the action without any sort of instructions (although I got the hang of it quickly). Another thing was that I didn't actually know what I was creating, I just clicked the buttons without any idea of what attacks they did or how much they cost, a good idea would be some kind of tooltip at the mouse to show the information.

Two things that can brighten up any game are sound effects and music. Even just a simple effect like swords clanging for the fights can immerse the player the much more.

Overall it's a nice game and I'll definitely be looking out for it in the creations section ;)

thank you both! Well as I have mention, this game is in alpha version, so I am going to make everything cleaner. Ill add beginning tutorial and also informations about units. altrough I have to fix overpowered turret :D Also I have to find some music, that would fit with the game:D

this game looks great! trying now :D

edit: nice start! work on the ui, info texts when you scroll over the units would be nice. also the server wasn't online so I couldn't do multiplayer :C this kinda looks like a game I worked on a few years ago, but yours have nicer gfx ^^

Thank you very much! Yeah I have already done that now I am making an beggining voice tutorial and clearing units, if you like ill turn on the server :) Sorry about that my cooling system on PC is down so I can't leave it 24/7 :(

Boring.
There is simply NOT enough units, I have played games this style that are much, much better (Made with game maker)

Here's a couple of things to make this more fun

-More Units (8-10 in total)
-An actual options menu, I could not access it
-I could not get multiplayer to work
-Different places
-Faster paced
-Somthing to work towards, not just you have all the units right away. For example you have to buy an upgrade for guns to use the other units and such.

Well thank you for your response. As you can see this was just kinda alpha version of the game so it's barely nothing at all. The real game is currently in progress with army upgrade, tutorial room, soldier explanation etc.

the graphics are great, far surpassing most games I see on here. I couldn't get online despite the first post saying the server is online.

The single player was too simple. The computer just keeps on pumping out people at a constant rate, and as long as it makes swordsman it doesn't run out of money.

I suggest removing the automatic money making and including another unit, one that collects resources but has to be protected. This adds more strategy.

Thank you! Sorry, just changed the status of the server because my PC has some problems with cooling atm <_< But we will make something that will make resources and for the gameplay as I have mentioned it's still in ALPHA version :lol:

Well, I would say the graphics are okay, but I would have to say the gameplay is kind of bland.

Just creating soldiers the way done in the game can be bland gameplay. The way it is a platformer makes it bland as well. Maybe a style like Age of the Empire would have been better, but that is my opinion.

Anywas, graphics are greate, but the main objective is to improve the gameplay.

Wooow what Do I think? WEIRD! Haha, I know, not the word you were looking for I am guessing... But yeah, very strange game to me. I tried it, and tried to bug it like you asked. I failed. But to be honest, you didn't give me much to test single-player-wise! I find it totally strange that the rifelman will bayonette charge and the knife man pulls out a pistol to shoot, but the rifleman behind the knifeman is too far away to shoot... and by too far away i mean 2 soldier's-width away...

Clearly the cannon rules all. I could write a book on suggestions, but like you've said, it's in alpha and I have really no way of knowing what you already have planned or thought up, but all I can say is the whole 2 units vs 2 units + cannons, is totally strange to me, or maybe I was not seeing any more units conflict other than that... I would almost say slow the pace DOWN, as revolutionary soldiers MARCHED in a uniform LINE towards their enemy. On that idea... dear god boy you could have something interesting happening, imagine if instead of one unit it was a perspective LINE of units, all marching in unision, and the HEALTH of that ONE UNIT(line of troops) was represented by how many units were still alive in the line... So like if the units had 10 health, draw 100 marching units in a perspective line, and every time they got "hit" for something like 1 damage, 10 marching units would fall down... Ah what am i saying, this is your game! Anyways, I would personally like to see more updates on this project... and less bumps ;) Nice graphics by the way.

Not to mention that the game trys to insult me by telling me its my fault I cannot connect.


Ill come back when the server is... 48/7 maybe. *shakes head*

(but seriously, ill give it a go when the server is up)

Just a little confused at your definition of a 24/7 server. You cant call it a 24/7 server if you just take it down for half the day and then say its offline. Dont advertise it as 24/7 if its not.

EDIT: I would suggest, earning a small amount of money over time.
Also, the cannons, i built about 15 of them... didnt seem to do much. I believe that there may have been that many of them, but the probably all shoot at the exact same time so theres no advantage. If i built one while another was firing then it would shot 2 cannon balls (shot faster, i could tell that it actually built a second).

The key you provided for file download was invalid. This is usually caused because the file is no longer stored on MediaFire. This occurs when the file is removed by the originating user or MediaFire.

@yellowbee, thank you! But I am afraid, that I've lost every single piece of this game, even the .exe file and .gmk. So I am unable to refresh the download link. If anyone who played this game still has the .exe file, please PM me it.
