AeroHawk Effects v4.0
By Wormintheworks

Name:
AeroHawk Effects 4
File Size: 3.98mb
File Type: EXE
Download Links:
Mediafire
Softpedia
Creator's Webpage: Click Me!
Minimum Screen Resolution: 1024 x 768
Changes Resolution: No

Video Trailer (incredibly over the top):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4GDWsw9x24
Watch Video

Information:
AeroHawk Effects is a particle designer that takes the hard work out of making great effects. It has high functionality wih many things editable, it can also output three files, GML, PNG and .ah4pj Projects. It's not just another particle designer, it brings good looks, ease of use and easy screenshotting to the table too.

Basically with this version I just tried to make sure that my particle designer is keeping up with GM. The last one was made in GM8, this one in GM8.1 and the next one will most likely come out when the next GM comes out! (either 9 or studio). However, I will be constantly updating this one as people give me suggestions as long as the save files aren't affected.

Improvements on aerohawk 3:

.AH4PJ files with faster loading
Resource sharing
Help file
Use sprite as shape
Relative orientation
Background changing
Particle bursting
Mutation button
Regular updates

Older Versions:
Version 3.0 - Download
Version 2.0 - Download
Version 1.0 - Download Broken and lost

Suggestions, etc?

Downloading right now.

Edit: Nice interface and easy to use. Everyone with little knowledge in GML should use this particle designer. Also i like the PNG snapshot, that could be useful.

Keep up the good work!

Cool! nice job on adding the Mutate button, its very handy.

On the GUI though, (just my preference) i'd like to work on a bigger window, I know you did made the size on this version bigger, but maybe make the window size to 1024x768, most people have hi-res monitors nowadays. If that's not possible, then make the preview panel bigger, as I may want to create huge particle designs with your program... There are lots of unused space in the GUI.

I'm not sure if you're done with the GUI, it seems to me that you aren't. I honestly like the GUI skin better on the previous version, also the program icon on this version is not very appealing, in my opinion. I like the loading screen though.

Additional features would be:

- Is to add a flag to each attributes to be locked/unlock, which means when you hit "randomized" button the flagged attributes won't be modified.

- Add a Effect Particle Characteristic where in user can choose a prefered style e.g. Projectile, Explosion, Smoke, Flame, Bursting, Pulsating, etc. .. something like that... If you get my drift.

- For the future, maybe add effects browser room, where pre-made (pretty particle designs) can be viewed and selected? maybe add another save format specifically for it... which includes preview image or thumbnail to display, as well as author information, whatever.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the feedback, I've got a list of improvements that I keep adding to for the next update.

I'm not sure what you meant here:

- Add a Effect Particle Characteristic where in user can choose a prefered style e.g. Projectile, Explosion, Smoke, Flame, Bursting, Pulsating, etc. .. something like that... If you get my drift.

And also the GUI and software icon are not priority (as they probably aren't for you either) but if other people agree that the old style was better I'll make it happen.

Hmmm... well, I guess my "additional features suggestion" number 2 and 3 are somewhat similar. But what I meant with "Effect Particle Characteristic" is that there should be pre-made particles characteristics that people can choose as a head start, it can be a "explosive type" which it doesn't need to be moving, or "projectile type" which is good as a projectile effect, or "pulsating".. you know those kinds of effects that has their own behavior. This basically the same as loading a saved "ah4pj" that has the appropriate particle effect. But you need to have this premade onto the program rather than saved "ah4pj" files made by others.

The other feature I didn't see was the particle changers, effectors, etc... It may not be easy to add, but it could come in handy.

Also, what about when a particle dies, and you have it set up to change to another particle type upon death. using the "part_type_death()" function a particle can spawn other particle types when it dies, and since that is often used(like with fire turning to smoke for example) it would be a nice addition to the club of features.

The other biggy I have to agree with the rest of them. The preview size is too small for my tastes. Maybe you could have a full-screen mode(not as-in window vs. full-screen) where you remove most of the GUI, leaving only a massive preview window, and then you can get the buttons back if you need them. It would help get a clear idea of what the particle system/s look/s like.

That's because they both design particle effects?

... They both design particles, aside from that I don't think they look that similar.
