Hi guys,
I'm not trying to start a flame war, but over the past while I've rethinked game maker, and found that it's pointless and stupid, what's the point of making half *'d games that suck and that no one will take the time to download when there are tons of flash games out there?
Second: Come on Yoyo Games, Game maker 8, really? What was that for? That was no different from GM7 which was barely different from GM6.
Third:
Game Maker is a kids thing, and if you're an adult using it and thinking you're a techie, you're pathetic, anyone can drag n drop, now show me some real programing and I'll respect you?

I think you're a stupid little man. GameMaker is not just for kids. It's also for adults who don't want to go to the trouble of setting the whole environment up, and just want to start programming.

I do agree, that most GameMaker games do suck. However, GameMaker is now being targeted at more serious developers, who are more likely to invest more time and money to produce a great game. Want examples of a good game made with GameMaker? Try Immortal Defense by rinkuhero. Also, about the download thing, what's the point of downloading games like Half-Life or Crysis or Medieval Total War then? Even so, HTML5 for GameMaker will be coming out soon, so you don't have to download the game to play it.

I do it because it's fun, it's a hobby. I've always loved messing with the works behind anything: I've played around with electronics and disassemble things to see how they work, and I also like playing games.
So I enjoy being the one that gives the instructions behind the programs. And there's also that great feeling when you finally solve a huge bug or problem.
Call me weird, but I enjoy math, too.

I think its time for you to learn some GML, and realize that quality stuff can be made with GM.
What it looks like to me is that you have just glanced at GM, but never really done anything with it.
Go look up Iji, look up Some of Davve's stuff (ie The Minecraft Song Planner).
GM isnt just for kids, its a real thing. Sure, you'll get better and more in-depth stuff if you are a master of C++ vs a master of GM because you can do more, but GM still has alot of oppertunities, and is a great and easy way to learn how to program.

What's my point? You're the one putting down HTML5 because the games "are still temporarily downloaded". That's no different from Flash games. Flash and GM are similar to each. Both have they're own scripting languages. Both use "objects".

Stop trying to sound like you know more than me, when it's obvious you have either:

1. Never used GM, and only looked at bad games made by noobs.
2. Are just a sad kid looking for a fight.
