Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that Game Jolt is holding another contest! If you don't already, you should know that it's possibly the most fun you could have as a game creator.

Anyways, we'll be getting together (through the power of the interwebs) to make games, livestream development, chat it up, meet people, and hang out.
There's always a big turnout of Game Maker games, so you'll feel right at home in this contest. I, as well as numerous others will be using it for sure!
It'll start on November 9, 2013 at midnight Eastern Time EST (US) and end at midnight Eastern Time on November 18, 2013. The theme will be announced at the start of the contest.
We've got a huge prize pack as well for the top three entries! Here's a little teaser of all the games you can win:

Check out the contest page for more info on it. Hope to see you there! Feel free to ask questions anywhere. I'll try to answer them.

Check it out!

December Game Making Competition

(Dec 1- Jan 1)

Each entrant must follow the tutorials and create a theme-based game in Game Maker: Studio free edition. The competition is for anyone who knows how to work a computer! The tutorials provided for the competition go into thorough detail about how to make a video game from start to finish.

Winning Conditions

Each game submission will be judged by the community, so the more people you get to vote for your game, the better your chances become! In the end, though, the ultimate decision will be made based on the top submissions. The games will be judged based on:

  • Followed the competition theme
  • Originality
  • ACMG points: These are earned through social interaction on the ACMG website.

Prizes Include:

*Denotes that this prize amount could change.

1st Place

  • $150*
  • Hero Siege

2nd Place

  • Steam Game: Mercenary Kings x3
  • Hero Siege
  • $25*

3rd Place

  • Steam Game: Monster Loves You
  • Steam Game: Foul Play
  • Hero Siege
  • $15*

4th Place

  • Steam Game: Monster Loves You
  • $10*

5th Place

  • $5*

  1. The aim of the competition is to develop entirely your own game based on the tutorial’s theme within the time limit (Dec 1- Jan 1). You MUST submit your final game before the 1st of Jan 2014.
  2. You MUST have stated you are going to enter before the 20th of December (via online registration for the competition).
  3. You MUST NOT include anything in the game that you don’t have full permission to use or without good reason use significant amounts of game content that you or somebody else had already made prior to the competition.
  4. Your final game MUST have the “Theme Elements.”
  5. The game MUST be created in Game Maker: Studio. The game MUST run on Windows 7. Your game shouldn’t require additional software installation.
  6. Don’t be a cheater.
  7. ONE entry per person (or team), maximum team of FOUR.
  8. Your game MUST NOT be libelous, harmful, threatening, harassing, abusive, racially or ethnically offensive, sexually explicit, pornographic, obscene, defamatory or objectionable, in our opinion.
  9. We reserve the right to update or otherwise change the rules and to disqualify any entrant who breaks the rules.

Donations and Sponsorship

If you do not want to make a game, but you would like to donate to the prize pool for the winners, we welcome nearly anything! You are welcome to give a game code, a game download, more money, or even a membership to your website! Please feel free to use this chance to promote yourself by giving away free stuff to the winners. If you are donating to the competition, please use the form on our website.

What happens when it’s over?

When the competition is over, all of the games will be available on our website with any links to your personal websites (if you would like), and the winners’ games will be highlighted and always at the top of the list.

Finally, the Theme

Will be announced on Day 1 of the competition at Midnight. =)

Thank you for moving this. I should have read the forum rules first, and for that, I apologize.

Gathered friends. The time has come for IndieDia’s first competition. You have one month to create an epic adventure.
In a way, you could call it a game jam, but since it’ll be running for a full 30 days, we’re going with competition instead. As such, prizes will be given away to the top participants; you know, further incentive to join the fray and create a game that’s epic! Only the top 3 will get their hands on the goods of the quest, though.

The epicness starts on March 29th, 2014 at midnight Eastern Time EST (US & Canada) and ends at midnight Eastern Time on April 30th, 2014.

It’s easy enough to enter: create a IndieDia account if you don’t have one already and… well, then it’s time to code, draw, animate, and all that epic stuff! Just remember the theme (epic) before you bury yourself too deep in thought and accidently create something entirely different. Equally important are the rules.

The Rules:

- Participants May enter at any time before and during the competition but entry will be closed after the competition’s end.

- Your entry must be an original game created just for this contest.

-Make Something

- Your entry must relate to the chosen theme,  but it’s an open theme! Get Creative!

- Your entry must be playable on Windows.

- Collaborations are fine. Go for broke with your party members! We like team work!

-Each Entrant must be a registered member of IndieDia (Teams may be represented by one account)

- Only one game submission per person/team.

- There are no restrictions on creation tools, libraries, file sizes or anything like that. We like diversity. Make it in RPGMaker, make it with Gamemaker, code it up from scratch yourself, It’s all accepted.

- Pre-existing code bits are acceptable, as are premade game engines. But you must put in some effort. If your game isn’t original enough it will show and you may rank low in the judging.

- No mandatory fullscreen or resolution changing. Can include a fullscreen/window switching option in-game.

- You’re encouraged mention IndieDia in your game info, although it’s definitely not a requirement.
