Failed to set data for value "SoundDir".
Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press Cancel to kill the program.
I've already reported this as a bug, I was just wondering if I could get any help from the community while I wait for an answer.
Any and all help is appreciated.

Have you tried doing a permission repair and/disk check using Disk Utility? That may be your real problem, sounds more like a permissions error than a bug to me.

Never get this error myself.

Could you go a little more in depth on the process. I have no idea what to do once inside disk utility :/

What version of GM are you running? You can find out by going to the Menu Bar>Game Maker>About Game Maker.

In the bug reports section Russell, has advised people to delete the GM4Mac config files.
Might take some searching but he's mentioned it a few times.

This did the trick! Not only is everything back to normal, but deleting those files found in my .config file fixed up the text editor too
Thanks a million <3

I don't mean to bump or anything but I get this error too, and I can't find the config file anywhere!
(via xxskxx on the bug tracker)
ok, to fix this like I did, do these steps:
1. Press Shift-Command-G
2. Type in the box "~/.config"
3. In that directory, delete the folders Yoyo70 and Game Maker 4 Mac, and anything else referring to YoYo games and Game Maker.
4. Launch Game Maker
5. Enjoy
