Programming and Mathematics Discussion
Rules
- All topics in this board are to be limited to discussions about general programming including but not limited to other programming languages besides GML, abstract ideas about programming, programming efficiency, or mathematics related to programming. Discussion here is beyond asking simple questions, but rather engaging in conversations with other users about the aforementioned topics.
- Discussion is not limited to GameMaker.
- Topics that ask simple, non-discussion questions, ask for tutorials regarding programming languages, or ask for help with programming in any language (including GameMaker) are not allowed. For GameMaker questions, users are expected to use the Questions and Answers or Advanced GML Discussion forums.
- Participants are expected to write clearly and coherently. Excellent communication skills are expected, and should be practiced.
- Other GM Rules Apply. These can be found here: Forum Rules. In particular, note the general forum rules: General Rules.
Using LaTeX for Mathematics Discussions
LaTeX (pronounced LAY-TEK) is a typesetting format usually used in mathematical documents, books, research papers, etc. because of its ability to produce nice looking mathematical formulas. This forum has support for LaTeX using the [ tex ] [ /tex ] forum tags (by removing the spacing with the brackets).
Example of something using LaTeX:
[ tex ]\int_{a}^{b} f(x) dx = \lim_{n \to \infty} \sum_{i = 1}^{n} f\left(a + i \Delta x \right) \Delta x[ /tex ]
One can find a drag and drop LaTeX Editor here: LaTeX Editor
Or one can use this as a reference, along with other sources they can find on the internet. Getting to Grips with LaTeX
