I've never played rinkuhero's games (and prolly never will, since they're not on Mac).

Hpapillon... not my cup of tea, but yeessh... great games she does. Added. :)

EDIT:

@ MasterofKings

'All' GM games means 'All GM games', y'know. :P

There's also a lot of bad C++ games, some horrid Java games... you're just not involved in those game making scenes so you just see the good examples each language throws up. But I'm pretty confident that all languages churn out their share of bad games, it's just that in GM it's easier to churn out bad games.

I clicked on "Reflect Games" and it took me to Vertigo Games. :P

I didn't realize there were that many "successful" Game Maker developers. Those games should totally be used to market Game Maker. The only problem is, new users will expect to be able to quickly make high quality games like those. :D

Fixed!

Yes, it's actually pretty inspiring to see what some people can do with GM. To actually know that people live off the tool is... well... awesome.

I'm not that old, but kinda. To be honest, GM has helped me turn my ideas into something that works w/o crazyness. I've made many things, never really finishing or having a claim to fame, but it's been fun. Users on these forums have been helpful, even when I facepalm at some of my own old posts. I havn't posted much though lately due to growing in other intrests, (not to mention lack of free time) mainly drawing, but it's still fun to come here and look at all the stuff that's been done.

As for GM's "image", I wouldn't worry about it. It is what it is; bad games can be made by even major companies with fancy programing training and tools and good games can be made even with GM and a little community.

Well, if your interested in another dev who uses GM to make commercial games.. but doesn't frequent this forum (saaad) then try Legend of Fae by endlessfluff.

Haven't tried it 'yet' but graphics look gorgeous. O.k. aside from the mac thing, but you can still check out the vid&site. :P

That looks great, Desert_Dog.
It's too bad the first thing I noticed was a typo.

(relaxing with music and a cookie waiting to find out how they want to check if Big J is telling the truth)

How about... we don't. Because, in case you hadn't gleaned this information previously, it doesn't really matter.

On the GMC, 13 years olds are considered senior members, as long as they've been here more than 6 months.

If you want the "wisdom of adolescents", this is the place to visit.

Pretty much...

I must say though... maybe they should have a mod preview for users under a certain age. I'd probably pay to not look like an idiot because of things I said at only a year or so older than that... (I hope the YYG forums don't keep records back to the month or two after Yoyo launched)

To be honest, to limit the sort of stupidity that goes on here the age limit would have to be around 93.

Let's stretch to 14 and a half.

I'll raise the limit to 14 and three quarters and bet another Pro license!

In all seriousness, the "All GM games are bad" thing, is more or less true.

It isn't true. "Most GM games are bad" is true. Those are very different statements.

"who's" means "who is", but it should be "whose", which denotes ownership.

who's the shortening of who is. It's really two words. So the statement reads 'who is hometown' which doesn't make sense.

It should be whose.

edit: slow typing ftw...

Hence the "More or less". I didn't say it was true. I said it was mostly true.

I remember fiddling around with all of Carl Gustafssons little examples around 2002 at least...

I remember having a couple of my examples on his site! Ahh... the good old days...

Yeah I remember his examples. Go that takes me back.

I remember the old forums :) I started using Game Maker with version 4.0... or was it 5.0? I don't remember anymore. And I still use GM 5.3 for all my projects now. I have the newer versions as well but for some reason have stuck with 5.3. I actually find it hard to keep up with the forums now since I hardly use the newer versions!

5.3 was a great version of GM. I prefer it over GM6.1 (although the alpha and rotation of sprites in GM6.1 was a good step).

I'm actually surprised I see noone I recognise in this thread apart from NPT. There's no takagi, ragnarak (although did just see a post from you in NQ&A. You're still going!), chronic, hppapilion, radnom games, KC LC, TMG, GHG, EDP, Yourself, etc.... The people you traditionally identified with the old gmc. (forums.gamemaker.nl for all you younguns).

It's sad really that guys such as Shawn64 will go on unremembered even though they arguably made some of the best games in GM's past. Ph well. That's life I guess...

I still connect to this forum by typing forums.gamemaker.nl into my address bar. I'll be disappointed if I ever can't. ;)

Yourself used to be a mod. I think he even was a global one.

Hppapilion indeed is a "she".
