Some things to keep in mind before committing to an autoupdate.
There is no mechanism to rollback, haven't investigated in Windows restore points will work.
Be aware of your local time zone compared to YYGs/Scottlands end-of-business day. If something goes wrong and it's past their business day end, you likely won't have a fix til at least the next business day.
If your version of 8.1 is working well for you, and you're not terribly impacted by existing bugs, consider not updating right away. Wait to see how successful it went for others.
Is it Friday, can you live without Game Maker all weekend should something goes wrong?
Of course, if you are heavily impacted by existing bugs, such that GM is not very usable, go ahead.
These considerations will be come less important as more bugs are fixed and auto-updating and package becomes more stable.
