Not really... You see, these are bitmaps. They're made of pixels. Nothing will ever be perfectly scaled when zoomed because of this, unless it is scaled 2x, 4x, or 8x.

Wouldn't Rounding the positions fix that?

I don't see how it would.

Seems like it might, would have to find away to try it out.

The global moderator Ablach Blackrat closes all other topics related to Game Maker 8.1. I think that Ablach Blackrat should not close other GM 8.1 topics. Ablach Blackrat should make a temporary GM 8.1 sub-forum and put all GM 8.1 topics into the sub-forum. People are discussing different aspects of GM 8.1 and discussions on GM 8.1 are only allowed in one thread is inappropriate.

Why? the other topics, in my opinnion, where inappropriate. They where no more than complaints and bug reports, and thoose go to the bugtracker.
This is probably the only topic that hasnt been totally flamed by haters and bug reports, and had the most polite discussion between all of the other 8.1 topics..

Robert, you werenīt in a discussion... you were told that you had a valid point and that they were going to look into it... so Iīd say your topic was resolved! And anyway, I donīt think it is a coincidence that Ablach has gone on a closing spree at just the same moment that Mike and Russel were on line... Posted Image

i like GM8.1.69 (is that the new update yeah?) apart from the text editor has got downgraded or something? the text coloring just doesnt stand out anymore.. oh and after i validate my version and then test my game, a popup comes up saying GM couldnt validate my version and so it turns back to lite (doesnt until i restart GM) but i can just validate it again... its like an endless loop :L but didnt happen before the update

The position has nothing to do with it, it's the scale of the graphics drawn.

I really didn't want to read all those replies about code syntax, I wanted to post an actual issue I have with my copy of Game Maker 8.1 Standard. I downloaded and registered, but now anytime I come back from testing a game or closing and reopening the program I get this error:

I don't know why it keeps doing this since my internet is usually always on and I don't think it's blocked by a firewall. This is pretty much the only thing keeping me from using this regularly. :/ Otherwise, this update is great! :)

I'm glad there's already an update that fixes most of the issues, but there seems to still have a few problems with the upgrade? If I directly buy GM 8.1, like not upgrading from 8.0 to 8.1, should I expect any problems? ^_^

Why would you think buying a new copy of GameMaker 8.1, as opposed to upgrading to 8.1 would reduce problems?

It's the same executable, with both you get a registration key, it's the same environment.

Your problem, and others are specifically addressed on the glog. The first thing people should do to investigate issues during this early release is go there and read the responses. Look for responses by Sandy, Mike or Russell.

Yeah but... guess what? lol
I know I shouldn't say this but : I have a crack of GM 8.0, because I did buy it, but I had stupid issues with SoftWrap... so basically I paid for it.
I wanna buy 8.1 with my money to encourage YoYo and Mark.

If you have your purchase reference you can get the upgrade for free.. but if you want to contribute, go ahead hehe

Oh, and softwrap is down (i think) so any attemp to enter a license key from gm8.0 is useless (at least for me), so, rock on cracks :S

@ Newkill:
GM8 & GM8.1 are actually different programs/exes/installations - they're separate, they have their own folders.

When you update from GM8 to 8.1 it doesn't update or overwrite GM8...
so ya can have both on your machine :)

As manuel777 says: if ya have your purchase reference number (16 digits) & follow the instructions on the glog, then ya can get a new serial number for GM8.1 (36 digits) for free.
(Or ya can pay for a new serial if ya feel generous & really want to).

Not sure if having used a crack for GM8 would interfere with the process tho.

one question:

in 8.0 code editor had a bold font for if switch for else etc. now it is normal font, how can i change this?

example:

8.0
if switch for else

8.1
if switch for else

notice the difference? this makes the code harder to read so i would like to change it back to bold font.

This is not possible to change back. This has been changed as a consequenced to a glitch in font drawing in the code editor. At first I was not happy about this change but actually it's easier on the eyes.
See http://bugs.yoyogame...view.php?id=755
What you can do and what I have done is change the colors so that normal text is gray while keywords are black.
