KING OF THE STREETS

By Field Magic

King of the Streets started off as a bit of fun during downtime at work with some work mates and it grew from there. Its a 2D fighting game based off ourselves and others and obviously inspired by Mortal Kombat. 98% of it is original, just some sound effects and a song. I apologize for the size, I pushed GM to its limits with the graphics...But its def worth the download! You can download the Full zip or download in parts..

Controls can be changed in the options menu or pause menu, P2 Controls will have to be changed to desired keys.

======= GAME FEATURES =======

- 8 Playable characters, with 1 Secret and a final boss
- Fun Gameplay with 4 attack buttons, (LP, HP, LK, HK) a Guard Button and Grapple Button.
- Higher Attacks can cancel into each other, eg
- HP can cancel Low attacks
- Low attacks can cancel Low attacks but become Medium Attacks eg LP+LP=MP (Gameplay is vaguely similiar to Marvel vs Capcom 2)
- Special Moves cancel all attacks (Gameplay is vaguely similiar to Marvel vs Capcom 2)
- Quick Gameplay with Combos, Juggles and Air Combos
- Finishing Moves (Finish off your opponent for good, similiar to Fatalities)
- Versus Mode, Training Mode, Story Mode with Intros, Bonus Stages, Cutscenes
- Multi Level Stages (Knock Opponent through walls onto a different platform, similiar to Dead or Alive)
- Comes with Joy2Key

WARNING THE GAME CONTAINS SWEARING AND VIOLENCE

this looks incredible. going to download now

EDIT:
Its not even funny how awesome this is.
Heck, this looks nicer than MK3. Ended up getting a blue screen of death so I couldnt play for long (dont worry I think it was something in Firefox).
I really look forward to exploring this game further. Its so freaking polished!

At first I thought the art was all photographed, but it looks like they are all 3D renders! Whoever did the art is amazing.

Only criticism: There were at least 3 misspells/grammatical errors in Maverick's intro, which didn't match the professional quality of the rest of the game.

Thanks to those who have played it

im curious though on how it runs on everyones comps... coz it is a big game.

At first I thought the art was all photographed, but it looks like they are all 3D renders! Whoever did the art is amazing.

Yea they are 3d renders, I modelled and textured them in maya and rigged and animated in 3dsmax... thanks

I knew there were alot of grammer mistakes and prob some spelling as well lol that was the one thing i forgot to go back and fix before uploading (lazy)... so i do expect to see alot more come up

its only been a weekend and its been downloaded over 50times.. lol which is surprising..so people are playing it which is good

one issue ive found so far is when you remap the keys you can remeap the hard punch it always exits the screen.
the remapping works when you pause the game while fighting but in the main menu selection part it doesnt work right.
but solid game.

It's hard to compete and innovate in the fighting genre (hell, these games are hard to make!), so I can't say it's that fun but the AI seemed fine and you guys must have a lot of fun playing this in multi.

However, this is technically really impressive and the graphics are incredible. The blur effects is also a nice touch. The loading were a bit slow but I had no problems running the game.

Good job, this game is amazing and very polished.

Thanks for playing.. Yea its def hard to compete in the genre, but in Gamemaker is only ever been done a few times.. Atleast it showcases what can be done with Gamemaker..

In other news....
King of the Streets just jumped up 500 downloads OVERNIGHT.... thats unbelieveable haha
Again Thanks to all who have played it...

I'm amazed this hasn't had more replies. It's one of the most impressive Game Maker games I've seen, it looks amazing, and must have taken an immense amount of work. And it's pretty fun to play as well. I can't wait for KoS2.

I'm impressed one more time. Nice intro, good animations, great job!

btw: don't worry, a lot of the best games don't get much attention around here. Thanks there's a lot of indie games fans out there on the internet!

Probably the best fighting game here on the GMC. I remember this game while it was a WIP. It's a shame about the file size, it's probably what makes the game so unpopular on the GMC. A lot of work was put into this and it shows. The mini-games, the environments, etc. Well done.

Yeah i went a little overboard with the frame sizes of the animation, initially because to be honest i didnt think id ever finish it haha so the file size just got bigger and bigger and it was past the point of return.. so I knew it would put alot of people off but ah well what can you do lol

Thanks for the support and more importantly for playing
