This is a tool that simulates the behavior of redstone wires and redstone torches from the game Minecraft.

This is open source, feel free to do whatever you want with this but do not claim as your own. I am planning on doing something with this engine in the future.

Download here

Controls:

  • Left click to place blocks or toggle levers/press buttons
  • Right click to delete blocks
  • Up/Down/W/S to change layer
  • Mouse wheel/1,2,3,4,5,6 to change tool
  • C to clear everything

That would be extremely annoying. Or are you talking about being able to place a wire on top of a block? That can easily be implemented.

Yeah, I was thinking about that as well, much better than annoying .gif images. :P

A redstone simulator can be useful if you don't have access to Minecraft and feel like creating something redstone-related. I don't really expect somebody to use this, as it doesn't even feature saving/loading and that there is a finished alternative. This was made more for learning purposes and as a challenge for me. :P

Yes Davve, I was talking about when you click on the block and it changed layers to the next one above that one, so we wouldn't have to press the button or whatever you press(W and S right?) anyway... It should also work with redstone torches, and blocks, and basicly everything... Btw what may be cool and possibly tricky to do, is to have sand, and when you place it on a higher layer, lets say 6, and the first rock peice is on 1, it would follow the sand block down to level 1? Like it would change layers...You get the idea :) Still as awesome as always!!

Hey, this is kinda offtopic, but look up a map called: Imperial Lands... It is hugggeee!

redstone circuits are a very simple introduction to Boolean circuitry, which in effect makes it really really difficult to grasp. You can get yourself a true logic gate simulator, there are good ones out there, google it.

I made a simple one a long time ago

Hey, you really need to add pistons, and also if you want to save using files, you should save them as ini's and saving each objects position and variables!
