The enormous recent growth in hobbyists is definitely an influence in the gaming community. I think we'll influence the commercial games industry too. We may be already.

That does not sound very likely. Much of the Game Maker functionality will not work in a browser. If it happens anyway, many features will need to be removed.and once we start to see GM HTML games I think we'll really influence the gaming industry.
