In Blip you must navigate your strange creature through twists and turns. Move with the arrow keys and shoot with the space bar.

I like it! I honestly like this much more than Cubes. My little review:

Pros:
  • Nice lovely HD graphics. You should default the fullscreen, it works well enough on Mac OS.
  • Nice, cool concept that makes me imagine I'm traveling I'm a germ traveling through the body.
  • Lots of potential

Cons:

  • Where did I hear that music before? ;) :P
  • The controls were a bit too treacherous. Just look at YPWMI, a game where hardness is the norm too. Controls don't have to be hard for the game to be hard. People get pissed off quick with bad controls, but they only get hooked with good ones. Thus, don't give players an excuse to blame the game.
  • The defend the circle thing bored me (too hard!) and I quit there.

    Suggestions:
  • A 'pick a level' screen, to, you know, pick a level. Gives more replay value
  • Start the game on fullscreen.
  • Try and make the game less reliant on the same and more of an innovative thing, the same concept, different implementation on each level (think Karoshi 2). Definitely make it a 'navigation' game, but don't kill people on the walls, find different ways to make it hard but not annoying. The trick here is to hook the player into an 'I can do it!' loop, instead of a 'this is stupid' one.
  • Somehow rework the controls, as mentioned, they're too treacherous. That method of control (speed, angle) doesn't lend itself to agility, it's arkward to use. I personally dislike it.
  • Add powerups. That would be awesome. :medieval:
  • Gravity sources, think of mini-suns? They attract you and disrupt your movement. (feel free to credit me for this idea of awesomeness.) :P

I actually love the concept, and I can see myself playing this constantly. I actually enjoyed the game quite a lot, the graphics and music (even though the music reminded me of Mubblies lol :P) and this game has tremendous potential, you should just tweak it and make it more addictive and less repetitive.

Thanks for the review. And I knew that this would happen with the music, haha, but its from a popular royalty-free site and I had the track on my HD before playing Frozzd, =P.

Good suggestions too, especially the gravity thing.

But how do you think the controls could be improved?

And Okay, ill switch up the Defend the circle level with easier ones, or maybe the level select would be best.

It is from a popular royalty free website lol, there's not much in the side of legality. Nor do I mind too much, actually. I just had to mention the coincidence. :P

Of controls, make it more instant (forget that pesky law of physics that all objects stay in one state until energy is applied to it). Thus, when the key is released, make the germ stop instantly. Add angle changing while still, that would help a lot.

The ideal solution would be to replace the entire movement, I've never been a huge fan of that movement style, I feel it hinders me. However, I can get used to it, and I'm sure lots of people enjoy that movement style.

Hmm, I don't want to help the player too much, haha.

I'm thinking of using this for more of a shooter, maybe even 'select game mode' prompt at the start.
