At the end of the day, our brain is just a massive neural network - just like a computer, and so does the same tasks. It does calculate, you just aren't consciously aware of your brain doing the number crunching.

And yes I did just BUMP a year old topic. Why not eh? It's interesting after all...

Trust me, it doesn't use numbers... it's far more advanced than that.

Its a neural network. Of course it doesnt physically count, but it uses logic systems that pass data between neurons, so technically it does count electrical pulses in a way... But so does a computer. All it does is counts electronic pulses and swaps them around in different circuits in its CPU. Of course it's a lot more complex than that, but that's the general idea.
